After reading this about ports vs. remakes, it had a section on Sonic being ported to just about every system since its release [not including ones pre-Genesis]

Sonic the Hedgehog (GEN) ported to EVERYTHING!
The original Sonic the Hedgehog was fantastic, but wow. Can you name a system this game hasn't been on? You can't! And that is what's wrong with these ports. Sonic the Hedgehog should be a classic, but it has been prostituted on so many systems that I don't want to see it again. Whether it is alone or on a Genesis/Sonic compilation, it has been ported to Gamecube, Gameboy Advance, Xbox, Wii, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, PSP, Sega Master System, iPod, iPhone, Dreamcast, numerous cell-phones, and soon Nintendo DS. And it makes me sick.

I was wondering, could this be a world record for the most amount of ports for a single game?

Sonic the Hedgehog is the Tetris of platforming games, it seems like.

Probably so, though, as mentioned above, I'm sure Tetris beats out Sonic 1 on that...

Unless Atari and Nintendo want to start releasing Sonic 1 on their old consoles. colbert.png

Someone contact him and tell him the Sega Master System version is a completely different game, not a port, then paste his response here. v.png

I think Street Fighter 2 also beats out Sonic fairly quickly, since it's been on every console system Sonic's been on -plus- the Playstation and SNES, and the only way Sonic can outdo is more mobile ports..

NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Amiga, Atari 2600/5200/7800, Nintendo Game and Watch, Nintendo Gameboy/Color/Advance (genesis doesn't count because spindash was added), Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, Atari Lynx/Jaguar, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Saturn (jam doesn't count because the Spindash was added), Sega 32X, Sega CD

And I'm spent.

Nintendo DS: Sonic Classics collection is gonna fix that.

Sony PSP: I'm sure I heard of a PSP Genesis Collection that has S1 on there.

Unless those don't count, either?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the majority of those are not ports: they're emulated. In fact, I think the only *true* port on that list is the GBA version.

Sonic Jam, Sonic on mobile phones.

...

Wait, when was Sonic ported to the Atari systems and Game and Watch?
