Thank god Retro's back, I was too busy playing Battlefield 1943 to notice.

Update: I've recreated all of the original forums in their original order, most with their original description. Next on the list is editing the forum ID numbers in the SQL and moving more topics there. Hoping to keep things at a steady pace so we can be done soon.

Ah thank god that Project: Sonic Retro archives are still there, it's a great resource for inspiration when looking for new ideas.

Another heads up—for those of you who noticed the wiki was locked from editing, it should be unlocked now. Sorry for the trouble; I thought I'd unlocked it earlier today, but apparently I did something wrong.

Seconded. Also, do the backups of Retro not have the topics stored in their correct forums? It would seem that most of the thousands of topics should be quickly matchable that way if somebody just wrote a sorting script using the current data and the most recent backup.

Yes, there is a backup with the correct forums assigned, and yes, we're planning to use it, the only problem is that it's quite outdated (february 2008), so this still leaves us with thousands of threads to be moved by hand, but don't worry, we are working on that.

You just need to unban QJimbo.
Seconded, why hasn't this happened? Unless it's going to happen after we restore the backup, which'd probably be a smart idea.
Or I'm reading things wrong.
Naw, you're reading it right, QJimbo is a homie.
And I like Chimpo as a Moderator, he has the attitude for it, is dedicated to the community, and I've never found anything to fault with him.

The biggest problem is, surprise, getting the backup uploaded. The first time, it was corrupt and took the server down with it. The second time (several hours later) timed out while SS was sleeping right at the beginning; the third time it was corrupt (again).
So yeah.

I honestly didn't know that Sonic Retro was having server problems, but I guess that's because my broadband was slow during that time because I already reached my peak limit.
But it's good to see it up and running again.

Hey guys! Just a heads up—we've finished moving all of the topics back into their rightful place. Everything is—for all intents and purposes—entirely back to normal. Crisis averted! :D
Big thanks to nineko, who probably fronted the brunt of the work, as well as the other mods—Chimpo, Gene, Overlord, SS, etc. Hopefully we can put this incident behind us now that we've come out of it completely unscathed.
