There's more, but if you can't even bothered to read through the thread, where its CLEARLY EXPLAINED PERHAPS SEVERAL TIMES, there's no point in showing you.

Hey pal listen, I read the fucking forums alright? Knock that chip off your shoulder already. Don't give ME a hard time just because I missed a couple words, because y'know, it's THREE PAGES LONG. I have a life apart from this. I missed it, whoopy doo. Don't be such a dick.

I'm not going to lie, I'm not comfortable about this. I saw the explanation that the fundraising and the ban were unrelated, but... for some reason I'm not seeing any humor in this "injoke". On top of that, it's probably just me (in fact, definitely just me), but I didn't have that much of a problem with Wetflame and Hedgie.

Applause to Chimpo becoming a moderator, though. That's long overdue.

Best not start this into another mini-storm, you two. I suggest you drop it now before it gets to the point both of you get suspended. We REALLY don't need any bickering at this time.

I'll just say it again: Wetflame and Chaos Hedgie were going to be banned regardless of donations. A few people suggested that they'd donate to see them banned, and since they were already on the chopping block, well...

In short: The donations were more along the lines of an after-effect, not a cause, and isn't something you can consider permanent. Seriously, guys, stop trying to turn this into Dramafest 2009 already.

This is why I stay away from the internet every once in a while... otherwise pointless drama happens.

I kind of agree with this. I completely understand the fundraising and bannings were seperate. But, still.

What did Wetflame do, exactly? Let me rephrase that, what did Wetflame do lately? Seemed pretty harmless at the moment unless I missed some posts.

I find a lot of drama always happens on Sonic forums. I haven't been that active here, I just post here every once in awhile.

I just don't like dealing with drama, so I try not to get too involved with forums lately.

I like how people from Retro bug me on /v/, CHIMPO.

It seems to me the problem wasn't that they disagreed with certain members of the forums loudly so much as, in the case of Wetflame especially, seemed completely incapable of handling opinions that were in opposition to their own.

An utter lack of ability to at least consider [or even reluctantly accept] a somewhat defensible opposing viewpoint, even if it might seem completely mental at first glance, is not good for the health of any forum. It certainly got down to the level of personal attacks on multiple occasions, and made decent discussion nearly impossible.

This is why the OP said something similar to, "Yeah, we like them well enough, but they don't really fit here very well." They honestly didn't, on account of that fact.

Keeping an open mind is often necessary to further discussion and must be done on all sides of a debate in order for any progress to be made. Otherwise, all people are doing is massaging their own egos.

I'm fine with it if it was seperate. But it clearly didn't come off that way. I saw the "joke" before the forums got screwed and figured it was probably a joke. But when I saw SS more or less continue it in this topic and say it in such a serious way, that raised a red flag. At times I do wish the staff was a little more serious.

I said that though =P. More 'Members' get banned than 'Olbies'.

Because we've been around long enough not to act like fucking morons

At least, the majority of us have learnt that. Christ.

Actually, that sounds like a pretty cool idea for a fundraiser: people volunteer to be banned for a certain amount of money, or alternately people volunteer for a suspension if a certain level of funds aren't met!

I think that'd be a fun little fundraiser. Certain users volunteer to get temporarily banned and a user is set to a certain price range. For this reason, you put the least likely to get banned (your average joe user or an upstanding member) at the bottom and put the more "notorious" ones to the top to raise the motivation. Of course, some may wonder what's the point if the volunteers will be unbanned anyway (in this particular situation, it isn't likely either will be let back in, but I won't commit to that statement as odd things have happened before) but it just seems more like a just-for-fun thing that also helps give money to the site which will ALSO enable us to improve it for a better experience for you guys.

Of course, I'm seeing this idea through rose-tinted glasses so I don't know how people would feel if this became a voluntary once-a-year fundraiser for the site, or even if the Admins would consider it. The idea's already got a negative rep, but moreso because it was an in-joke to ban two people already on the chopping block that went horribly wrong.
