Chimpo is the best thing to happen to this project, period. He may come off as an ass, but the guy knows what he's talking about and has already proven he's very capable.
As one of the supposed "leaders" of the original incarnation of "Sonic 4" I went from being optimistic and hopeful to tearing my hair out at how disorganised, cluttered and retarded the whole process had become (to the point I was more or less removed :P). I mean seriously, the only thing I have to say about the old incarnation is two words: Spike Shield.
If you people want 'more say', contribute and show you're willing to stick with this project. Don't bitch because something didn't go your way. Work it out rationally. You might just have more sway because.. You know.. You're actually trying.
Anyways, from what I've seen so far, I'm liking it. The Sonic sprite is beautiful. There's no point in jumping ahead to Super Sonic or Moon Zone Part 39 if you don't even have the base of the fucking character yet.
With that said, I'm hoping that despite my major lack of skills, I can find some way to contribute to this project.

Quoted here because it's not strictly related to the Badnik discussion, and it doesn't need to be brought up until much later in development (I just wanted to get it down now while it's in my head), but I saw this and it reminded me that at some point, the animals and their corresponding levels and robots should be considered.
EDIT: Durr, way to use the IMG tags.

What I found sad about the old project was that how Pheobius expected everyone to do everything. The same day that the forum came online, there was already topics for multiple levels and etc when nothing had really started. Topics on the title cards, topic on the HUD and random shit when nothing was done on the actual GAME.
Yes, Chimpo is the greatest thing that happened to this project.

What? It was and I think still is supposed to be a community project. Phoebius wasn't supposed to be doing all the work, just like Chimpo shouldn't be expected to do all the work now. Phoebius just was less iron handed and less organized.
What I am seeing right now is pretty much no one doing anything other than Chimpo working on the Sonic sprite sheet. More people should get involved with this project if it's going to get anywhere.

"More people" including YOU, person behind the pc, reading this...
Seriously, are we still talking about Chimpo's leadership skills? He's the leader, nothing you can do about it. Stop talking like he won the lottery and you want a part of his money. Come up with some ideas instead.

Hmm, even though everyone hates this guy, and with good reasons, let's try to stay with the proper topic here and not descend into constantly badmouthing this increative git.
Sonic Retro is looking great. By any chance would Downloadable Content be able to be implemented, with characters like Mighty and Ray being released for it?

While I suppose that such an occurrence wouldn't be
impossible, it would require sprites and character data to be made, which occurs at a near-glacial pace for more necessary resources.

Lets focus on actually having a game thats got a main character finished before we start worrying about characters that aren't necessary

Chimpo's busy. Showing y'all what 'work on the project' entails.
I think.

I basicly spammed the 'Level 0 - Artwork' thread a few days ago with loads of new ideas and work but no one followed up on anything, its kind of disheartening after you put the effort in.
Im working on uni stuff till the end of April but after that I'll give things another whack, hopfully other people will get their act together before then.

Is it just me, or is this project basically dead. There hasn't been anything done for a long time apart from a few minor tweaks of Chimpo's work.

I always find it funny how the herd follow like sheep whenever somebody proposes one idea; in this case, when one person wonders what's going on, there's a sudden flurry of cries about how the project is supposedly "dead." Stop being melodramatic and actually do something outside of just complaining if you want progress to be made—it won't be made for you.
