It looks to me almost like Sonic is marching during his slow walk animation. And I can't help but think that Sonic's head is angled the wrong way, you don't usually see it from profile when he isn't moving it. I also think there is way too much flop in his quills. His middle quill looks like it's ready to fall off in his standing sprite.

It looks awesome but there is on thing bothering me. The frames where you see sonic scrunched up onto a ball seem a little too close. He looks like he's spinning extremly slowly. We should try to space those frames out a little bit. (in terms of turning around I mean) But it really depends because sonic never jumps and spins at the same speed. Something he rolls like a v8 wheel!? :p

This is much more like what I was looking for. Hooray!
^ click link for GAL file.
Either way, I highly prefer the somewhat larger, darker eyes as they soften him quite a bit -- that is, he no longer looks anywhere near as stern.

I like that one more, although I think you made the bottom quill a little worse (flat or something).

Yeah, I tried a bunch of stuff with the bottom quill, but this was the best I could do -- none of my experiments gave it a decently curvy feel while still being reasonably sized compared to the other quills.

The old one is better, in my opinion.
This one looks like it's just flashing or something like that

Can't the same thing be said for the spindash animation of Sonic 2 and 3?
This is mostly noticeable in Sonic 2, where you can easely see that after every spindash frame there is a different static frame, with different shine and different shape.

I did the spring sprite, but I guess its going to be ignored until I can figure out how to blow it up accurately.

Does the free version of GG allow for GIF exporting? It doesn't seem to allow it on my copy.
I don't think so, but you can just export the individual frames and put them into a program like ms GIF animator.
Also green; good job on the spring sprite, though the right hand looks a little weird to me.

The hands are exactly the same, so they could probably do with some adjustment.
The shoes look odd to me. And what's with the large empty space in the image?

Did the first frame for braking, the hand is kinda eh. I was lazy on the shoes, all I did was cut around them, change the colors, and add the buckle, but other than that they're the same as the sonic 3 sprite.
