I agree. I enjoyed playing both of those stages. Perhaps we should compose music with inspiration from the 8 tracks between the two stages (Meaning looking at not only Star Light's but also all times for Stardust Speedway from both soundtracks and using that to compose our own original track) Which actually makes me want to ask this question: Are we doing like in Sonic 3 & Knuckles where the acts have different yet similar music tracks?

I would hope so. My music for Act 1a of this (highway route from Canada Zone) should be made only for that. (I'm going to upload the music later).
That being said, this is going to be a pretty highspeed level, right? And is there any concept art for Act 1b (sewer)?

Genocide City Zone. Not only does it pay tribute to the cut Sonic 2 zone, it'll be another S2 zone that got revived in a later game, like Hidden Palace in Sonic and Knuckles!

It's partly why I registered.

There is nothing "Genocide" about it, care to explain?

Do you not remember Genocide City Zone from Sonic 2? Of course you don't, it was cut. That's why I suggested naming it that, as a tribute.
Sonic and Knuckles also did it with Hidden Palace, remember?

Yes, but Hidden Palace in S3K was a hidden palace. That one described the level. I don't see how we could name this one Genocide City, if that's your only reason.

The "city" level is a Sonic staple so it's good that one will be included. Even the zones that aren't technically city themed like Chemical Plant, Casino Night, Carnival Night (C words...) have big cities in the background and crossbeams in the foreground. To avoid it looking same-ish though a few of those common elements might need to be reworked. The starry night sky, the girders, hell even it being a typical city all together.
SonicCD's Zones were kind of crazy, after all it took place on "Little Planet". One of the Special Stages had a City motif.

The city here is more Cyber Punk and futuristic then the typical office building/tenement set up we usually see.
That might open up the options for slightly more fantastic elements like hovering street lights, crazy lighting and just random techno objects.

Little elevator-teleporter thing.
When Sonic steps in front of the door, it opens, and sucks him in. It then sends him to the door at the other end of the tube.
Most of the graphics here are from elsewhere in the tileset; only the doors (windows not included) are custom.

You didn't get my point, of course, we all know what Genocide City was. But I was actually meaning how did you get the link to this zone that it had a reference to a "Genocide" theme?
