But flapping would increase lift, without it you just have thrust, and that will send the bird plummeting to the ground. Besides, I'm pretty sure it flaps it's wings in real life.

Hey let's not get too bogged down in physics now. Have you ever played a video game that defied the laws of physics at least once? Plus I did say it was gliding. But if it is that strong of an issue we'll see what other people have to say about it. :)

Also, this Badnik's wings are like razor blades. It hold them down to the ground and cuts through it. I thought this was a cool feature. I included a jet pack to stop this sort of confusion.

Third frame is very much in WIP state. If anyone wants to continue it, feel free to do so.

It seems that you and blue emerald have been working on it together, so thanks to you too. The only thing I would like to note is that the tip of the wings, the razorblades you have made into feathers. But they are one full blade and not many. Like this but the blade curves like and axe. Basically the blade follows the lines of where the bird's feathers are at the end of a wing. Other than that it is looking marvelous.

No, it wasn't me who made them feathers. It was Blue emerald who did( just look in the last page). Well, I think I'll edit it later - now I'm going to sleep.

Good night then. Sorry if I was keeping you up, I live in Australia so the time zone's quite different here. Although I am not good at making sprites, I did do a quick edit to get some of the colours right, fixed the shape in the 3rd frame, redone the jet pack and fixed up the back feathers (I think, the feathers may not be shaded right but I think I did a good job.). I also have gone and done the flame animations. One thing is, When you put them on the jet pack you can't see them behind the red feathers, I believe we might need a colour change there, I can fix it as it is really quick But what colour do you suggest, green maybe? When you are awake can you and blue emerald work on frame 4?

Edit: Don't worry, I just finished it myself! I added the flames, and completed frame 4! It looks like I'm better at making sprites than I thought. Although I have come to like the metal feathers and we may need to dump the whole 'Slicing the ground idea' as it doesn't look as obvious as I thought it would. We may need to go with PlasmaNuke's method and animate the wings, what do you think?

Okay, now that badnik looks awesome. :( The debris behind it should be kept though, as it's clearer to the player why spindashing into it can be dangerous:

Assuming they see something like this flying at them at high speed, they may want to think twice about simply rolling into it.

pretty good!
I did some minor touches on the wings, by the way.
About animating the wings, well, that's up to you. It's your badnik, so you decide what might be better for it.

You haven't played Knuckles' Chaotix it seems.

I always saw the ability to climb straight up a single wall on chaotix with the wall jump as a mistake they forgot to remove. Besides I don't see why it can't just be limited to a move used once per jump to make it more of a skill to use rather then just a move to climb up vertical walls.

Consdering ALL the other characters have a wall climb and that it's actually a required maneuver in a couple places I don't think that it's just a glitch.

True, I just found it a bit akward looking compared to the others.
If it was to go in this game it would just have to be tweaked to be more of a sonic move, a quick one off split second thing you might use to avoid an obstacle or change direction quickly rather then a means of getting around the level.

Alright! That looks great! You seem to be really good at making gif's! Can we have a full gif of the whole procedure on an actually stage? Hill top zone for it's trees maybe? Just to see if it all flows right, If indeed it does we'll keep the slicing idea in! :v:

Wow, that was fast! But I do love these sprites. These are way better than what I was trying to do with the flapping and such. Also, Zenor, it wasn't my intention to make them feathers; they really were supposed to be just plain blades, but the new wings look nicer anyway.

The GIF looks cool, too. Do you think we should add any details to those dust clouds?

Also, while the sprite building is coming along swimmingly, I think we should revisit my art for the snake Badnik.

It looks alright, but I realize that we can do more to it now. I'll load the base pieces here (I still have it saved as a PNG) and I'll also get to work on some of the retouches. Thundertimi and Zenor, you guys can help out too. I think that together, we can get all these Badniks done in no time.

Here are the base pieces. Of course, these will be retouched.

I think you are confusing me for Zenor, I was the one who said that and finished the 4th frame, nonetheless all of us have been work together great and we should do the badniks together! ^^ . I believe this Badnik needs to look a little bit more like a robot, at this point it's too simple, I'll start editing it soon. :v:

Also thundertimi has been working on another concept of mine in the circus zone thread, wanna help out?
