To be honest I don't care for most of the art posted for this zone. Even the BG, as awesome as it is, looks like something you would see in Fairy Land Adventures and not so much in a Sonic game. Most of the art just clashes and doesn't look too great together.

If I may add... I still think the background I started would look better

I liked that background too. The tents, coasters, and balloons just look nice. Also, I actually prefer the original purple/blue palette for the foreground.

I much prefer your background, never was too keen on the cloud followed by the night sky of the other one.
Not really a fan of the Purple and Blue through, I like the art just not the colour scheme.

Anyway heres a quick sketch to show how I think the colour scheme should look. The transition between regular ground and the Roller coaster could be better though.

Yeah...
Which pretty much means that the rest of the background is open for discussion.

And I might as well just come out and say that Rika, Phoebius and Chimpo- neither of which I think are still creating art for this (Unless Chimpo plans on contributing more than cockslaps)- are just about the only competent artists I've seen on this forum

You ass

Oh, I forgot about you. You're not half bad, honestly- technically, you're way better than I am at this shit right now, but you're a ways off from nailing the classic Sonic formula. Which might not be a bad thing- this is why we've got to establish some proper art direction before we start shooting in the dark.

EDIT: Oh, more McGuirk art. See, that's much better. You can do this shit if you just take the time to study the source material. I won't level judgement at this point; just watch those flat shades, and keep adding to it. Don't stop. Tear the frame on that pussy.

Just for the note, "You ass" was just for the lulz.
The fact is that my bg is perfect, except for those disgraceful clouds. Anyone who can sprite a cloud in a realistic way please do it. Because I really can't.

I was talking about what's already done. It's beautiful, but to me it just doesn't look like Sonic style graphics. The colors seem too pastel like. Also, unless the moon would be on a separate non-moving layer, it would repeat and might look kinda off.

Hey Kids, It's Audience Participation Time!

Alright, I've been messing around with the tracks, and I need a few opinions. On an impulse, I've attempted to draw the tracks from a slight angle to add some depth. It arguably looks better in some respects, but could clash with the flatness of the rest of the level.

(If anyone's curious about the supports, they've been nixed for now because I'm going to give the huge white column supports from the concept recently posted by Matwek a whirl)

Aye. The old one feels flat. Nice work there!

To be honest the white foregrounds remind me a bit too much of Carnival Night (and to a certain extent, Speed Slider in Chaotix), or rather, it reminds me of how those two levels have better graphics =P.

You were better off with the purple/red colour scheme. That was more pleasing on the eye too.

I also like raves background, but its not fitting in sonic game.

I think, that we must copy that pic, what Matwek posted, But include star blocks.
(Not because I did them, but they fit in zone.) We just have to add some detail in them.

Looking good, any chance of coming up with something to combine the track to the rest of the level? Maybe like a turn style or an empty que stand or something?
