Connecting... Loading.... ENTER YOUR NAME *no keyboard appears* *crashes* Ok then. EDIT: Ok I couldn't type, but I can paste text so got in now. Weird.
Is this not on IOS yet? Its not pulling up in the app store...I'm in no hurry to try out the game though....
I like the music more than Lost World's but this has a bit more to it than I was expecting. For a phone game anyway.
Sadly I had problems with recording the sound, but I recorded some gameplay of Tails in the second world: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYMxt7UnBKs
They're probably just rolling it out to Canada to use us as guinea pigs before the US/UK/everywhere else launch. That said, I'll be trying this sometime tonight. Weird that it's not available on my tablet though.
Wow. They actually referenced the Master Emerald in this. EDIT: Also, apparently my real name uses forbidden words/phrases.
After all this bloody time. Is it just me or does Knuckles model look slightly off? It might just be his jogging/running animation that is bugging me.
Ya Canada seems to be their free QA Testers lately. To Canada! America's beta tester :specialed: Oh fun, one way you can def tell that this is a test run is that when downloading the game from the Canadian iTunes store, the name displays in Japanese. Good good.
Same on Android, haha. Just took it for a spin and it's actually pretty fun. The core gameplay has a nice feel to it, but wading through all these menus and tutorials is a real pain.
Its not that bad, so far for me on the menus. I just skip the story and play. I guess its nice there is a story for people that care? Could have been way worse.
Each episode has a mini plot. They're very simple tales, like "Eggman stole animals" or "the Chao can't find his home" or "Cubot keeps dropping items he's bringing back to Eggman." Just stupid shit like that. Knuckles is really interested in dropped "loot" for some reason.
The game part looks good and all, but what's with the text? It looks atrocious, like the bottoms of some letters go below the "line" the text is on, and it's glaring as hell. Almost makes me think it's a fan game. Seriously, whoever's localizing this needs to go take a Graphic Design class.
I'm strongly with Overlord here. My phone's data plan is extremely limited. It runs out quite rapidly every time it resets every month. I was interested in Sonic Runners as a mobile game I could play on the go and if it's going to force me to connect to the Internet just to get past the title screen without any kind of offline mode then the game is unplayable for me too. Ridiculous decision to be honest. Not everyone's phone is going to have a constant Internet connection or available data. Seriously would it have been that hard to integrate an offline only mode so people could at least try the game? Like now for example. I have the game installed and it (rather miraculously) runs but I can't get past the title screen because I'm out of data on my phone. And before anyone asks yes I have wireless Internet at home but I'm having trouble getting my damn phone to maintain a constant connection to it. So yeah. The game is unplayable at the moment for me. No offline mode is ridiculous.
If they tighten up the UI a bit to make it look more appealing they've really got something solid here. I've been looking for a game to play on breaks at work and Runners really fit the bill for me last evening. Even before work I put about an hour of play into it and not once did I get hit with a "You're out of energy!" message like I was fully bracing for. The little plots are silly but the game play so far is just nice enough to keep me coming back for more. I was really expecting a lot worse from this so I'm glad it came out well.
The list of compatible devices seems more like a list of devices they've explicitly tested. Mine's not on there, but I downloaded the .apk and it's fine. Also, anyone who's not getting sound effects except for the 10 rings, chances are the game is recognising your device as being not-so-powerful and automatically set it to streamlined mode to reduce demands. You can toggle it in-game in the options menu.
Absolutely in love with this. I gave the apk to two RL friends as well and they have both been grinding up their ranks all day since. They're not even huge Sonic fans. I'm genuinely really impressed by the gameplay, and the pay stuff is very non-intrusive compared to other stuff out there.
