Sonic the Hedgehog Cinematic Universe Thread (& Knuckles)

What a diabolic- err, I mean dynamic duo.

 

The poster is beautiful. It’s just perfect.

I also quite liked the first pre-redesign poster of him running on the building.

At certain times the old design looked cool imo but I do prefer the way he ended up.

 

To be honest, the Discord isn't a bad idea...on paper. Let's be fair, outside of the Internet, not many people really understand the types of people that Sonic tends to attract or what happens when all of them gather in a single place.

It was well intentioned move, just one that unfortunately wasn't very well thought out.

 

"Let's round up the Sonic Fanbase, what could possibly go wrong?"

 

Not to get all "No True Scotsman" on Sonic fans, but I doubt the majority of people joined that channel to actually discuss Sonic. People are gonna see "Official Sonic Discord" and, naturally, will wanna join to dunk on it. Hence the sea of users spamming slurs, furry porn, and old /pol/ copypastas.

 

I noticed he's looking like a deeper or fuller blue as well. He also just kinda looks... fluffier, maybe? He definitely looks a little different, like very slightly, but somehow a little different and a bit better. It could also be the posing and the fact that this straight-on shot of Sonic looks much more appealing than the straight-on shot of the final poster for the first movie.

Also noticed they removed the little white/beige patch between his eyes. Oh well! I kinda liked that as a creative little nod to the mono-eyes but obviously... it doesn't matter.

 

Might just be the angle, but I'm assuming that his personality might change a bit since in a way he sort of took the "kid" role in the previous movie, but now that's going to Tails.

So maybe there was a slight tweak to Sonic's face to reflect that he's more mature/sure of himself?

 

Love the poster, and can't wait for the trailer. Bring it the fuck on.

Glad that Colleen is playing Tails in the movie, too. I like to think that this (along with Tara Strong being in the Loki series) could open the door for more "voice actor" actors to get big credited roles in big Hollywood movies, but we'll have to wait and see.

 

I don't really count the motion poster or the one with the legs that was thrown around theaters, since those were more teasers than anything. I was more looking at "potential DVD boxart" very first posters, which my selection was. (And if very very first is what we're going by, then we might as well compare silhouette sonic to knuckles' fist, which would defeat most of the purpose.) Even though it's directed at that post specifically, I figured a lot of similar posts would be made, so I commented based on that most of all.

Regarding the Discord, I find it funny that we've had polls about official Sonic discords before, and it seems like the people who were hesitant to say yes were proven right.

 

The patch is still there, nothing changed in that area. He's just furrowing his brow in a way that's creasing over it.

 

I was thinking this too.

Maybe because a large part of the first story was the large blue quill that 'fell' off Sonic, so his design needed to emphasise it for story purposes.
They are still there but I they stand out less... from this one poster anyway.

That poster looks pretty good, but what's the deal with that Eggmobile with the evil clown face? It reminds me more of Bowser's clown car.

 

It's blending the Movie robot design into it (a red center light on dark black interior, sometimes with a little x thing.)

But now that you say clownface, I can't unsee it lmao. BEHOLD!
It's got angry eyes, a honky nose, turret ears, a big ol' smile... and Eggman in the cockpit works as a makeshift partyhat.

Counting down the minutes for the trailer. I'm so excited, I think I'm gonna cry when it is premiered

 

13 seconds of the trailer leaked.. be warned!!!

 

Trailer just aired on The Game Awards. Looks good, much more visually ambitious and varied than the first movie, even just by the trailer. Some cringe jokes but I feel like it wasn't as cringe-packed as the first movie's trailer. Pretty excited for it. Not sure how I feel about Elba's voice, will take getting used to.

Although the Opera joke was absolute cringe, wish they'd stop with the bland pop culture references.
