Wow. I had planned to grab one already because Unleashed ran at a more stable 30 on the Series X, but if it goes to 60 that’d be huge.
I was today years old when I learned Sonic CD has an Amazon Fire TV port. My sister sent me a video of her son playing it lol.
It also is one of the few ways to play the Sonic 1 and 2 ports on a TV (well not anymore due to the disassemblies)
I've actually thought out whether I could get away with playing the Sonic 1/2 remasters on my TV's Fire Stick. Haven't gone through with it.
Hello! I've just scanned and uploaded the entire Japanese Sonic 2 guidebook to the wiki, if anyone wants to look at it. It's got lots of cute zone maps. Sorry that my copy was a bit dinky, I took it apart to scan so I didn't want to use a super nice one. Checkout this cute comic from page 70 where Tails is down to eat Eggman:
An old French ad for a partnership between Sega and Gervais's "Esquimaux". In each pack you could get one of four iron-on transferts. You could also win watches, the Sonic Chaos game and a Game Gear !
Can't believe that I missed this. Its really cool to see, and disappointing that the final render was so much worse than the prototype. They improved the legs, feet and mangled hands, but Sonic head and face are just so much worse in the final. Strange.
Pointless trivia - Sonic is intervening to stop the KFC Colonel flirting with Takanashi Kiara (twitterverse)
Last year, Bioware and Dark Horse released a book showcasing development details and concept art about all their games, including Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.
This is on Hoopla, so people who's library has a Hoopla account, can read it for free. There's nothing interesting. There's an anecdote about the project lead working on the floor, because the DS dev kit they had only had a short lead, so the DS wasn't portable. It's mentioned that the development team was rather small with only 30 people, some of which had never worked on a game before. They feel the game was marketed poorly, as it was intended to be an 11 year olds first RPG, but people went into it expecting another Mass Effect. The style of the Zones were inspired by amusement park maps. There's some pieces of concept art.
Does the link I provided not show all 8 pages for everyone else? To say there's "Nothing interesting" is kind of wrong. This is pretty much the first time we've had developers comment about their time on the game since its release, and comments on its legacy. We've also never seen some of the artwork, like Shade's concept artwork or the alternate Green Hill looking area (that almost looks like it could be a replacement for Blue Ridge Zone) and some (the scorpion) were only shown with the wrong color pallete within the Prima Strategy Guide. They even use variants of the Blue Ridge map art that were also only seen outside of the actual game, on Joy Ang's portfolio and again in the Prima guide.
Apologies, "Nothing interesting" was a poor choice of words on my part. Sonic Chronicles has always been a curious project to me, and I was hoping that this would shed some light on the decisions they made, which is why I was disappointed, but that's on me for having unfair expectations. But yes, you are completely correct, there is a lot of interesting concept art to see and it is nice to see the developers comment on the project.
