Sonic Gems Museum No. 95

    OK, now this may or may not have been spotted already, but I'll give it a mention anyhoo since I can't find it on S2B anywhere...

    In Sonic Gems Collection (on 'Cube, and I would imagine PS2) look at Museum No. 95, which is a picture of the artwork used on the European Sonic 3 box. Notice anything?

    The Euro box originally cut the artwork off underneath Sonic, but in Gems we can see the whole thing as the artist intended. IT SAYS 'PART ONE' in dull letters against the railings of the Carnival Night art. I saw this and was a little shocked. We know that Sonic 3 was too big for Sonic Team to finish in their time schedule, and that S&K was the 'leftovers' of the game. So was Sonic 3 supposed be called 'SONIC 3 PART ONE' originally? And did they intend Sonic & Knuckles to be 'SONIC 3 PART TWO'?!

    The mind boggles...

    I can't get a picture since I've no way to link my Gamecube to a capture card or TV. And if I tried to put a 'Cube emulator on my PC my house would burn down. My laptop sucks ass.

    EDIT: Now you mention it I'm sure I have it in my big box of sonic art... I'll look in the morning.

    Sorry to say, but the "Part One" image was also in the Sonic the Screensaver image collection ;)

    Are you sure that's not from the Japanese version? I'm sure I once saw a Japanese cartridge or something that said "Part One" on it.

    Not that I know of. I suggest it becomes archived or something, so we don't have this problem again.

    Interesting, btw. Never knew they actually had it on artwork to confirm our original suspicions.

    I used my Hauppauge WinCastTV Card to take the screenshot. :D

    At one time, Sonic 3 was actually going to be part one? Sometimes I wonder if that could be true, but it says so in this image, so it must be, I think. :blink:

    Oh I now see it is below Knuckles and Sonic. Quality and resolution was to low.

    Well, even so, it still could've been drawn "As if Under" the characters..

    Mind you, I never noticed this before, but Sonic is specifically holding up a "ONE" finger, on his right hand, isn't he....

    hmm... My Sonic Rush still hasn't turned up...

    Haha, I never noticed that. Clever.

    ...though I still don't get that animation style. It looks a bit distorted.

    Heh... Looks like my finding was worth posting after all...

    Jayenkai, well done for the 3-1 thing. I never noticed that.
