So, I'd like to introduce a project to this forum for the first time. Me and a team of friends, going under the name of RadiantNexus Team, have been working on a hack called Sonic 1 Definitive. We have big plans, and we are finally getting somewhere, so, I might as well show something here. This is a combination of a somewhat outdated picture of GHZ1 alongside a mockup of GHZ2.
So my hack has been quietly chugging along. Here’s a clip of Zone 5. Note that the music used is temporary.
I've not looked through here to see if this belongs to anyone on Retro, but someone has done a Taxman Sonic 2 hack where you can see almost the entire level all at once!

It's certainly a case study in how the perception of speed in a 2D game correlates with the screen size relative to the movement speed of the player. Too much screen space and not only does it feel slower, but graphics often have to be scaled up to look decent which costs extra resources; Not enough screen space and the player doesn't have enough time to fairly react to incoming hazards without concessions in the way the levels are designed.

That is beautiful. It's amazing how just adding a splash of color makes Labyrinth Zone look so much better.
Alternate version of Hyper Sonic for Generations I have been throwing together. JoeTE's was the initial basis. I wanted the colors to look a lot brighter, him to hover when idle like StarNoodle495's version, and I wanted different stars. I also wanted him to have brighter colors, a different light trail, some physics changes, and be compatible with betterFXpipeline without his shaders turning him into uglier dark Sonic.
