It's not gonna happen but for what it's worth I do hope they fix the online and make dlc for the game. I mean it sold decently enough right? I just don't understand why it has to be this way You get it from drift boosts and stunt boosts only afaik. I believe the burst lasts a little longer if you get a triple boost but don't quote me on that
So UK opening week numbers for Sonic's Ass Racing are in and... - Third-biggest videogame opening of the year for the UK, behind Days Gone and RE2 Remake - Second-best debut in the series behind N-Sane Trilogy - Outsold the second best-selling game of the week, FIFA 19, almost eight times over - Outsold Sonic's Racing ass's first week sales more than four times over
I mean it was inevitable. Oh well, at least they managed to release TSR before CTR. If they did it the other way around, TSR probably would've bombed hard.
To touch back on that "should Sonic go on hiatus?" bit when discussing TSR's sales, I remembered that we went through this gauntlet in the immediate wake of Forces' release: Meanwhile, I can't say my personal thoughts from back then have changed much.
More content and it would have stood a chance. For the same price, CTR has 31 tracks and 26 customizable characters, compared to TSR's 21 and 15, respectively. For fuck's sake the five Grand Prixs in the game REPEAT TRACKS. It's just not enough. Since there were no DLC plans for TSR, I wonder if this will change their mind, or abandon the game.
And what I don't understand is that they didnt have to repeat tracks in the grand prix mode but they refuse to use the final fortress tracks. Honestly not sure why they didnt just make the grand prix 3 levels each and just have you play the tracks of the same theme. Oh also CTR has extra modes outside of just racing where as TSR does not (TSR does have extra modes but for some reason they're restricted to only Adventure mode and only to a handful of levels. They could have maybe added some online component to those modes but nope, missed opportunity).
My switch version updated to 1.0.3 today when I went to open it. Does anyone have any idea what changes have been made as I can't see any mention of the update online.
Remember that mobile spin off that fell off the face of the earth after being mentioned like twice? Well here's some footage of it finally.
Nah, I'm playing it right now and it's not great. It's your typical mobile game setup; ludicrously simple gameplay premise, bloated to the extremes with "boosters" and a thousand different stats that each require an insane amount of grinding to upgrade. You can't accelerate, brake or drift. All you do is turn/swerve left and right. Not offensively bad or anything, but a little bit shit.
Yea seems very Mario Kart Tour. A very simple mobile racer with a shit ton of grinding to do. For what it is, it seems fine, but I'm not going to lose sleep knowing this is an Apple Arcade exclusive meaning I'll never play it.
The game was good fun but only for a few weeks, the poor management of how the cups reuse tracks and ignore the death egg circuits, the very poor online performance and lack of follow up support killed it week one pretty much. I still own my switch copy but it's not been played since those first few weeks and I have no interest in revisting it yet.
That's about how I feel. I enjoyed it for a while, grinded all the car paaaaarts, and then left it alone. Too bad it's such a vanilla experience all around. I'd gladly pay for more content, another team, another few tracks, something, but they pretty much dropped it as soon as it shipped, huh?
I haven't touched it since week two. I managed to grind out most of the parts for the characters I used, such as Tails and Blaze, but haven't had much desire to continue. I don't even believe I ever finished the story. At least I think about playing it every once in a while...but now Super Mario Kart is on Switch...
I stopped in chapter 2 or 3, I really did not feel like dodging traffic again after it all in transformed burned me out.
I've just checked my achievements list and apparently I stopped somewhere after Chapter 2's conclusion - while I'm not necessarily against going back to it I've got so much coming up between now and Xmas in terms of an incoming-games backlog that I'm not sure when I'll be touching it again - it's not bad, it's just not grabbed me. We'll see I guess.
I didn't get this have so I can't really comment on how fun it is. But it looks boring and vanilla. There's no real personality to it or anything. I have never even played a Crash game all the way through and CTR is much more appealing to me. CTR is even more fun to watch.
Mario Kart 8 is vanilla, too, and no one cares. Because... Too many curves No easy tracks Not enough racers Not very diverse are things you can say about Team Sonic Racing but not Mario Kart 8. Give a little more credit for being an original Sonic racer and not another Mario Kart clone. I wonder what would happen if SEGA let Sumo handle the stages in a non-racing-game?
