http://youtu.be/HQduLFJ8iRM Well I'll be, the series wasn't canned. And this time all the characters wear outfits which is a cool touch. So yea.. waggle time :v:
I mean, the Olympics are taking place in Japan next year, I think Sega and Nintendo would be crazy not to develop a tie-in game to it this time, they should be able to cash in pretty well on it.
I thought this series was dead too. Kinda glad to see that it's still going, but I'm not sure why. I haven't played any of them since the Wii original and I don't plan on buying this.
I actually quite liked the first Winter DS version as it had a neat story mode. But then the story got progressively worse with each instalment. I think in the last 3DS title the characters only dispense play tips in story mode and the quest revolves around the player's Mii, which was just pointless.
They actually announced four Tokyo 2020 olympic tie-ins. - Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games: The Official Video Game (東京2020オリンピック) (??) - Mario & Sonic at Tokyo Olympics (マリオ&ソニック AT 東京オリンピック) - Mario & Sonic at Tokyo Olympics Arcade Game (マリオ&ソニック AT 東京オリンピック アーケードゲーム) - Tokyo 2020 Sonic Olympics (東京2020 ソニック オリンピック) (although the logo says "Sonic at the Olympic Games")
Considering Nintendo's recent foray into mobile gaming, I'm surprised they didn't allow Mario in that version. Never played any of these games, but they always seem to get good remixes.
I don't doubt provincial pride plays some part in this particular installment, but Sonic was never all that successful in his home country (or so they say). I can only assume that to the Japanese public his presence is only on account of Sega having the official Olympics contract; surely there're other rivals for Mario they'd rather have compete, like Konami's Goemon. If there was a lucrative venue it'd've been the Rio games, I'm sure.
- Tokyo 2020 Sonic Olympics (東京2020 ソニック オリンピック) (although the logo says "Sonic at the Olympic Games")
For the non-Nintendo platforms I assume. Wonder how they'll pad out the roster.
I live 2 blocks from the place where they're holding the Olympic tennis matches. Maybe I'll see the real Sonic and Mario!!
I think Sega are slowly dumping Sonic out of their Olympic games thus turning it into something like Football Manager that they can microtransaction to death. Evidently, they still have the Olympic license and Nintendo is still okay with them having Mario in them but the long term seems to me to make a generic sports title. Edit: Someone pointed out to me that Sonic has his Sonic Riders shoes on...Nice.
Wow I forgot how long ago that game came out. It was the 2010 winter Olympics. That was 10 years ago. Let's see if this Mobile version can last for 2 weeks this time :v:
New trailer from E3 Direct. Surfing and skateboarding, huh? Sweet. I guess they still haven't gotten that secret sidemouth tech from Sonic Team.
inb4 complaints about Zavok, again. :v: Seriously though, it looks good. The surfing and skateboard events have me interested. I haven't played a Mario & Sonic game since the Wii, but if I get a Switch, I might give it a go. Although my backlog of games right now is pretty massive. That 8/16-bit clip has me curious.
