Well, now we know what all of the development time was put into. The car customization actually looks pretty extensive.
There's a lot more to the customization than I was expecting, particularly the aesthetic stuff. That should lend itself well to the online component and keeping track of your teammates.
It's so much better when characters don't talk. Though I think they're pushing their luck with making a set of animations out of this. It just seems a bit cynical, and they haven't really got a story to tell. You can have too much of a good thing.
Gematsu uploaded some footage of the game without audio: This actually looks fantastic.
Where on Earth was this game 3 months ago? This looks... really good to be honest. Never played a Sonic racing game before so I'm not sure how it compares to the All-Stars games, but on its own merits this looks rather enjoyable
Finally, competent gameplay. I wonder if this is PC capture, and how the Switch version runs in comparison.
Still not sold on the gameplay, but the graphics do look much better than what was being shown off before. The textures and models do look more high-quality, it doesn't look as "low-budget" as it did before. The new Bingo Highway level is the most impressive one of the lot IMO. The artstyle still has a somewhat oversaturated look to it, although I think that's more because of the lighting. The design of the levels do look more creative than what they've shown so far as well, and the customization elements does look nicely comphrensive. The video Krigo posted does have some odd framerate delays at the start of each clip though. Hopefully that's just a hiccup with the way the video was recorded/encoded/processed/etc. Overall, the presentation does look like it's gotten a much-needed kick in the pants, which is a good thing. I still can't say I'm excited for this game, or think it's going to hold on its own against the CTR remake.
I'm more on board now. Definitely more excited to see more than I was prior. That customization stuff looks like what I was needing, something to sink my teeth into.
Still not a fan of the loss of the other sega characters and boat/plane bits but I do want to buy the game now. Probably used.
Music update! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhTrwKZwLN8 I remember someone describing Chiptune as "deconstructive", but I'm not sure if that's true or not. Good thing they talk about it a little bit.
The new Apple Aracde will have an exclusive title known as Sonic Racing. The press release has an image from Team Sonic Racing, so I'm guessing it's a variant of that title, possibly with the team stuff removed? (judging by the title)
It's a lot different than what I'd expect from a Tee Lopes composition, considering the instrumentation. But it's nice.
It was performed by the Sonic Adventure Music Experience. Basically Crush 40, minus Johnny Gioeli and plus the violinist we also heard in in Boo's House. A far cry from the instrumentation of Mania, but really awesome regardless.
