I don't believe they ever did anything with those who subscribed to Sonic Boom for a full 1 or 2 years either.
That one they were actually nice enough to add the remaining one issue to the regular Sonic the Hedgehog comic while the remaining Mega Man issues (I think I had a subscription for 3 additional issues when it got canned) went towards Sonic Universe. They actually had a letter attached with the final issue of each for those that informed me where those subscription leftovers were going. Edit: I wish I didn't throw away those letters sometime ago since it would probably be useful at the moment for context.
At least those were comics you could expect to have overlapping readerbases. I know absolutely nothing about any of Archie's actual IPs.
I don't think this is anything weird. I mean when the Official Dreamcast Magazine was canceled I started receiving issues of Electronic Gaming Monthly in its place. I kind of assume this sort of thing is standard practice with subscription reading material. (That or I was screwed then and didn't care about it.)
Ken Penders posted the first page to his comic/graphic novel/appalling artwork. Just looking at Lara Su's face when she seems to be crying just lacks any expression that she is upset over her Father's death(?) and the usage of photography that he may have taken himself or bought online in this page looks jarring as hell with Lara Su walking over it.
Every time I think I've seen the worst Pender can do, he prove me wrong. What the fuck is this shit ? The fact that he made it as a successful comic artist make me fucking sad.
I literally came in here to be like holy shit this was a brand new topic like a decade ago or something, how is this still going. The man is a scourge. (ha. Get it?)
I won't be an ass, but if he's actually made a semi decent original background, that page would be marginally tolerable. However, the fact that he just slapped a photo in the background just sets it completely off kilter. "Should I spend an afternoon practising drawing beaches? Orrrrrrrrrrrr.... **opens Google**
Wait, she's supposed to be CRYING in that shot? All I saw there was wistfully staring into the distance. Also lol at generic photographs instead of an actual background being drawn.
I've checked through the pages I've translated, and this one is new as I didn't translate it (yet). Also, he might have changed his plans, as I translated another "page 1" and it's not for "The Storm". Unless there's a third story :p
I mean maybe he should try releasing 1 story and then work on story 2 and 3. Then he can actually, you know, publish something.
EVEN NOW I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT. WORST OF ALL- (sums up my feelings more than anything I can articulate right now, Ken's work is really something...)
I'd wish he'd just hurry up and lose his lawsuit so he can stop the charade already. This was never meant to come out, was never meant to be anything other than leverage to say "Hur to dur Imma using this copyrights yessiry". The fact that I've see people make better comics (sketched, inked, and colored) on picarto in less than a fraction of the time it takes him to do one page.....This is a scam. The Lara Su Chronicles is a SCAM. Nothing more.
Oh he did finish at least one thing, haha. He modified the last panel of "The die is cast" (and that panel is completed and all. It even introduces a new villain or something )
