Different writers have different methods, but I can assure you that a competent writer can produce an entire story arc with all the beats and major points before the first issue is ever released. Obviously there would be more time spent fine tuning the details but for the most part it isn't such a lengthy process that one book will consume someone's entire time.
IIRC, Ian was writing for four comics at one point : Sonic the hedgehog, Sonic Universe, Megaman, New Crusaders. I'm sure he'll be able to handle this.
Well, I am glad for the old Archie writers and artists that made the cut. Looks like I got another goal to try and accomplish, at least.
Anyone still remember years and years ago when Ian attempted to supplement his work with fan stories? :v
Why is this thread still being used to discuss the IDW comic? It's a new comic with no input or participation from Archie. I say it should have its own thread.
Because IDW Sonic hasn't actually started yet and already shares some of it's staff with Archie Sonic? I mean, half the discussion is about what IDW may continue taking from Archie Sonic.
We've said it before, I'll say it again: the IDW thread will start when we have actual IDW content - this will more than likely be solicits.
Now that all the Archie-Sonic-specific fuckery is (seemingly) behind him, maybe Ian can finally put out the rest of Lost Hedgehog Tales. Maybe? Big, hopeful maybe. I dropped off the comic right before the Mega Man crossover and it'd be nice to get some kind of vague closure for the characters I had been following since I was a kid.
Ian actually posted an update about this on Monday: http://bumbleking.com/lost-hedgehog-tales-update/ In short, he still can't do it just yet for various reasons.
You remember in the original Dragon Ball when Goku defeated Piccolo Daimao, and Piccolo Daimao spat out an Egg which turned into the new and improved Piccolo we know in Dragon Ball Z? Piccolo Daimao = Archie Comics Goku = Ken Penders Piccolo Jr = IDW Publishing Egg = Ian Flynn, Tyson Hesse, Mark Hamill! Alf! And many more... I never want to write a post that compares Goku to Ken Penders ever again...
Ahh, cool. I did look to see if there was any recent mention of it before posting, but I guess that update was too fresh for Google. Good to know it's still in the cards somehow, someday. I'm excited for the IDW comic too. I think it's been said enough times but a clean slate will be a huge benefit for everyone involved at this point.
They also take fucking forever to get anything done. But Goku is good-spirited and is interested in becoming better, so the metaphor really falls apart there.
The mental image now of Penders standing in a crowded convention hall with his hands in the air screaming "People of Earth, Give me your Energy! Only I can save Sonic writing!" as people awkwardly walk past him and avoid eye-contact. Clearly this is why he hasn't got the strength to finish his magnum opus!
Or they just multiverse it again and bring in the Archie, IDW, Boom, Underground and StC incarnations? I'd prefer that option, Penders be damned.
Holy shit, I just got the news today. This will lead to a new era. The Flynniverse 2.0: now with less Archie meddling. Can we keep Nicole though? I really want to keep Nicole.
So Adam Bryce Thomas forgot to proofcheck his PDFs and well, get a load of this! https://board.sonicstadium.org/topic/22919-sonic-forces-moment-of-truth-digital-comic/?page=4&tab=comments#comment-1165107 https://board.sonicstadium.org/topic/22919-sonic-forces-moment-of-truth-digital-comic/?page=4&tab=comments#comment-1165110 Unreleased and future cover art! EDIT: Yeah I know its posted in the Forces topic too. but more art was discovered that are not soo rough so its worth a mention.
ABT released his pencils for Sonic Universe #95 and 96 and rough layouts for Sonic Universe #97 It's so fucking frustrating that these awesome issues will never be inked and colored, but I'm glad we could at least get a sneak peak. Now, the only one I'm missing is StH #293, though I'm not sure it even got into pencil phase, coz Yardley only showed parts of 292.
