    Since I am always working on Sonic the Fighters, nothing usually surprises me because I have bashed away at the game for about a decade now. However, I managed to consistently come across something I have done which appears to freeze whatever loads all the palette data. When the data is frozen on boot and the HUD is initialized, the default color palettes loaded for Player 1 and Player 2 are that of the prototype screenshots instead of the normal Green to Yellow to Red palette information. Inputs for some reason are disabled when I activate this (most likely freezing some kind of "allow player input" to 0 as well) so I can not explore this too far yet.

    Well, I said I could turn S3SSEdit into a Sonic 1 Special Stage editor, and it turns out I was right. Release coming soon.

    I really appreciate the Microsoft Paint influences in your tools. I've found Paint from 98/XP to be quite effective for normal pixel art. For plotting other things like special stages, I can only predict it'll make editing them a dream~

  6. Seems like something that could be incorporated into a background for a really cool effect. Although I did see the trees were affected as well. Does the effect occur on all of the foreground terrain?

    A separate effect happens to sprites and foreground plane.

    Can't wait for some of the mods we might see when Mania comes out for PC. I was thinking that it might be possible for someone to get Knuckles mania sprites into Sonic CD that way we have a true Sonic CD & Knuckles!

    I'd rather swap them for the S3&K sprites. They're more at home with Mania's S3&K-esque engine, and Sonic's Mania sprites feel like a regression from 2 and 3, being based on his Sonic 1 sprites. Plus Knux would be colored correctly with his S3&K palette :v:

    Eh, nah. The Mania sprites are more details and better animated. Even if frames were removed I still think we'd be better off with the Sonic Mania sprites. I'd say Knuckles had the best sprites in Mania out of any other game by far (especially when compared to Chaotix. Yuck).

    Someone should put Knuckles' Mania sprites in Chaotix :specialed:

    Funny considering, Knuckles's sprite in Mania uses the bottom portion of the Chaotix sprite; albeit recolored and with skinnier shoes. Personally, I like the S3&K sprite the best.

    Walk animation needs a slight lean in. It's too stiff at the moment.

    Last time I showed this, essentially everything was hard coded into the executable

    Now, it's entirely script-driven at runtime, which makes it so, so flexible :D
