Not to shit on you guy, but I don't get this in particular. What about Sonic music hasn't sounded celebrational? Like, part of the sound is that triumphant and almost bizzare sound a lot of the songs have. The other half is sick beats with smooth leads and samples. Mirage Saloon almost sounds straight out of an eighties New Jack album. I will say, the one thing I don't like about some of the songs is the reserved percussion. That punchy percussive sound was a huge part of the style for me. But I won't lose sleep over it.
Not from what I can tell, but I'm sure there have been small revisions since then, like there was with Studiopolis.
This takes serious cues from Sonic 3, CD, and AoSTH. I didn't like it when I first heard it in the game play, but hearing it on it's own, it's amazing! I love this and Tee Lopes just pushed the Michael Jackson envelope all the way on this one! "Danger on the Dance Floor"....the MJ estate just got trolled!
I think that the miniboss theme is basically this: + Sonic CD vibes.
Who's making the Danger on the Dance Floor/Sonic 3 Mini boss remix? I know someone is already on it! ....and the 16-bit Remix.
So Amazon support is dicking me around about my CE preorder. No matter what I say, the response is "we'll confirm your delivery date when the item comes back in stock". I'm PISSED. I ordered this NINE MONTHS AGO. If I don't get it by the end of August, I'm going to raise hell.
Well, compare this incomplete early version: With the official one: I can hear some polishing at the beginning, but nothing severe, imo.
If you mean Sonic music as a whole... pretty much any music for a stage/situation that doesn't imply any kind of celebration? Like, I could get this sort of vibe coming from a casino-themed level's theme or from the ending music, but not from the boss music. LET THE CHIPTUNE HIT THE FLOOR :v: Well, it could actually work for AoStH Robotnik, if he'd also say "HELLO I AM UNFUNNY!" upon being hit and during any other action. Other than that, it's an all time low shit. And, before you ask, yes, Mania's boss themes are better than this. Because anything is better than this.
I think Sirius is being hyperbolic, but I don't like how people are missing his point. There's nothing in the Mania soundtrack that sounds remotely like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9utFNqhJUgY or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoVY7nvcel0 The music is lacking somewhat in variety. It was even pointed out before that Studiopolis and Mirage Saloon are basically the same. As far as comparisons to Sonic CD goes, it's like they only used the Good Future versions.
I mean, we haven't heard the full soundtrack yet, nor do we know all the levels yet. It's possible there are songs like that. Also, I don't understand that video at all... Mirage Saloon and Studiopolis sound nothing alike. Just because it's the same tempo doesn't mean it's the same song. There's only so many tempos that exist, so if we use this logic, then most music sounds the same, and almost every Sonic song is the exact same song.
Man, this song is so fucking catchy. Also, I noticed some differences too compared with old version, there's like some "GO" samples from Launch Base now. I don't think this was in the old one.
If we had a stage or scenario that matches the atmosphere and tone of those songs, and have heard more of the music for the original stages, then sure that would be a valid point. But we don't and we haven't...so. Also that video is pretty silly. The fact that they're the same tempo and...5 semitones apart structurally clearly means they are the same song, even though half that songs in Sonic 2 are written in the same key, and the tempi were intentionally altered to fit the pace of the levels more.
Random oldbie trivia - back when the Retro Sonic fangame came out, which was made by the Taxman (who is now developing Sonic Mania), it had some really catchy in game music. I asked him what it was from and he told me Jumping Flash! on the playstation and how he really liked the soundtrack from it. I'm guessing he shared his love of the soundtrack with Tee Lopes, because you can't tell me the mini boss theme doesn't sound just a little like this...
