I need to know, right here and now. I feel that my current efforts are wasted. I've made music ediing as easy as I possibly could, and yet I see very few jumping at the opportunity. I'm willing to work more, but not in vain.

    Please respond. Thank you.

I am. It gets boring listening to the same music over and over in every hack.

Even though I kinda suck at hacking, I'll do it.

Currently I'm not hacking music, but I feel that it will be my business soon. :)

I'm not great at music, but I've got somewhat a grasp on the Megadrive assembly, even if I do have to learn how the Z80 works. Of course, putting your own composed music into Sonic would be awesome.

Keep going Tweaker, a lot more people appreciate your work than it looks. :)

Woah Tweaker how can you say this when people were fighting over the piano trophy in the hacking contet topic? And I'm not into music hacking currently, maybe one day I'll get back into it, and actually write some software using your guide.

I'm interested, but I don't know a thing about how the instruments are put together or how the music is made.

And how am I supposed to know what in the name of $(GOD) "operator 4" is and what effect changing its "detune" will have?

Additionally this needs to be clarified or at least prettified so it's clearer:

    Code (Text):
    1. 00-7F: Note duration (How long a note is held for) 80-DF: Notes (80 is a rest) E0-FF: Coordination flags

You ask Tweaker. I only gave that document a cursory glance and reformatted it for the Wiki.

Which means I have absolutely no interest in music hacking. Sorry.

As far as music hacking goes, I'm pretty much entirely limited. But if you need any new music for your hack (or if anyone does, for that matter) I'd love to help in making the music itself.

Values 00-7F are note durations. The higher the value, the longer a note is held for. There is various syntax formats you could use to set music up. Lemme give an example...

    01 81 81 05 82 04 81 05 82 01 82 05 83 85

The note duration, then the notes to play. We have a note duration of 01 at first, then we have DAC samples (in my example... it could be notes too) 81 play twice.

    81 01 82 02

Simple. Note then duration. Sonic QX uses this simple fashion. Not exactly a space saver though.

    81 01 03 02 06

Note, then multiple durations. Have 81 play at 01, then 03, then 02, etc...

You can mix these up and shiz how you want. All are valid syntax formats.
