It doesn't have the same cycle of colours than the original! It's a crap!!! Buaaaaaahhh! You guys are really great in your job, I have to say it (again). It looks awesome and it could pass as original artwork as well.
They really couldn't have done a much better job with this than they did. All of the artwork so far has been absolutely excellent.
Maybe I'm going into hyperbole mode but I think I like the new CP blocks even more than those in the original game. Absolutely love the LED panel display they are going with here. :D
Absolutely adorable! Is all the art still being made in 4x or has the multiplier changed? Or better yet, is the team freely adjusting the relative size of things? Probably it is just me but I got the feeling he looks bigger now.
It makes my day week to see these updates. Amazing work as always! Can't wait for the day I can see the full animation with all the critters leaping from the capsule. When might we see another peek at the gameplay? - he wondered to himself...
Wow, that looks really great. Question now is how good will those look in-game, with the sprite moving up and down and interacting with the environment.
Here is update in S2HD Developer's Blog! http://sonic2hd.blogspot.com/2016/06/s2hd-q2-2016-progress-report.html
I think the CPZ art in this most recent update looks very good, and is very similar to the Update of May, 2015, featuring Jesus Campos. It is a bit darker too, which perhaps was done for atmospheric reasons and/or clarity between background and foreground layers. I'm thinking we can expect a colour palette very similar to the remake of CPZ in Sonic Generations. It looks extremely similar. I personally would prefer a palette closer to the original CPZ, more shiny and less grungy. With the S2HD EHZ tileset there was extreme care given to preserve the palette and aesthetic of the original tileset/assets, and I interpret these new CPZ assets as a departure from that design philosophy (que threadfiller from the peanut gallery about “pixelfags” and “that damn HTZ tree”). To be clear, my personal preference is to preserve the aesthetic of the original CPZ, particularly the colour palette (obviously with “infinite” colour steps in between a la gradients). If this is in fact correct, and I don't know that to be the case, it would be nice to have an explanation why the art direction has departed from S2HD EHZ both in regard to this zone and what we can expect with the other zones which have yet to be completed. I don't know if anyone is available to comment…
