They said international servers are not happening, but I really wish they would. If Sega follows the PSU route, then there's no point in playing. Only people who'd play are the people new to PSO or those who didn't bother to play the JP PSO2. From what I keep hearing is that they're having issues with the FUN/AC Scratch thing.

With Japan due to get Episode 2 later this year, I hope this is the reason they delayed the Western release. It would be nice if they launched with content on par with Japan, but that's unlikely.

Suppose, there's gonna be a SEA server by Asiasoft Games from thailand. They're supposedly going to be a English option as well.

If you're form thailand or knows thai, there's the announcement.

Wow, already? O_O Looks cool, and having a new race is even cooler.

And yet there's still no word on the US version... we're not getting it, are we? >.>

Looks like Relic Entertainment is probably working on PSO2, according to this recent job posting:

We haven't had any news or discussion here on this game in awhile.
PSO2 Episode 3 was announced today, coming to Japan in August. An English version of PSO2 launched on May 29th, but it's specifically for Southeast Asia and they're blocking IP ranges from outside that region.

Still no word on a western release, which sucks even more considering the English version is ready.

Edit: It sounds like the southeast Asia English version of PSO2 is really shitty. According to some threads on PSO World, it's about 2 years behind on content updates (in other words, it launched with practically the same content the Japanese version had when it was first released) and the translation isn't very good. Hopefully it's not a sign of what's to come. Meanwhile, the English translation patch for the Japanese version seems to be maintained still.

I think a US release is looking really unlikely at this point. A shame, because it's the only MMO I was looking forward to playing. =/ At this rate SEGA should just make their servers global and allow US players to play on the Japanese servers without ToS crap being an issue.

Huh. Is it monthlong then? Cuz it seems like a weeklong event would be more appropriate for *next* week given the release date of Sonic 1 was the 26th, at least in Japan if I have my numbers right

It's also playing City Escape (Classic Sonic) from Generations instead of the normal in game music. It's pretty cool, but can get annoying after the third/fourth loop.

Not sure. I've not logged on in over 4 months. Sounds about right though. Maybe logging in on the 26th will gift us with a freebie or two.

Can't play right now, no one can. Some douche DDoS'd sega's servers two days ago.

Some people think it's a few SEA players because they're forced to play the crappy Asiasoft version because Sega IP block SEA connection. By block I mean Asiasoft asked them too because they know not many will play the SEA version.

Is it a coincidence then that PSO-World has been down all day today as well? I tried checking their forums after I saw the initial DDoS post above, and tried a few times in the hours since then, and it continues to be down.
Despite their relatively bitter stance about PSO modifications (not allowing linking to the PSO2 fan-translation despite having what's practically one of the official threads on it, not allowing discussions of private servers, etc.) they're still one of the most active English-speaking PSO2 forums.

I think it has more to do with too many incoming connections than a DDoS. PSUBlog has DDoS protection by CloudFlare, I don't think PSO-W has one.

Incase anyone here who still would like to play PSO2 but can't because of the routing issues and connection kerfluffle, I developed a PSO2 protocol proxy and am running a public server for it. (It's way more secure then a VPN with a lot less lag.)

    Service: http://pso2proxy.cyberkitsune.net/bluepill/
    Program: https://github.com/cyberkitsune/PSO2Proxy

I'm also working on a private server software solution since it doesn't look like SEGA is ever going to push this west. :/

    I love you.

    ...

    I love you so much.

As soon as PSO2 Tweaker installs the months of updates I've missed out on since the last time I was able to log in, I will be trying this out.
I love how they jumped ship from the PSO2 Facebook page and left it open so the hopeful west still have a place to beg for a release. GG SEGA.
On saying that, I imagine if SEGA were to release PSO2 over here it'd remain a horribly laggy two year outdated mess; days like this I miss SCHTHACK (not that it's gone anywhere, but after being teased with PSO2 for so long I'm not sure I'm able to look back. :(/>
