I HATE the look of those things. If anything in this game screams Galaxy it's that right there. Small little orb where you must kill all the enemies to move on. Just like those rooms in Sonic Rush where you had to kill the enemies or those doors in Heroes that wouldn't open unless you killed the enemies with the health bars, they're slow and have no place in Sonic games
So you much rather plow through them? The spiders themselves aren't the enemies that need to be destroyed to press on if I recall, and instances of that happening in the Console vresion, to my memory, are few and far between. Ah well. EDIT: Dario has pointed out to me that in a GameSpot video, 13m29s in the below video, the birds BUTTERFLIES that Sonic releases are actually responsible for "activating" the flower, so apparently the flower /does/ get activated by the spiders. I coulda sworn otherwise, but yeah that's what's happening. Fuck. Meh, as long as this isn't too excessive. Something tells me that's part of an optional path, too, like most paths in this game are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ5OSu76rk8&t=809s Also keep in mind the kick attack can hit enemies into other enemies that are near them to kill two birds with the same stone, even if the stone is one of the birds
Bobombs in 09:30! :O Pinball Sonic should be heavier and slower. I could be very frustrated with that.
The Sonic jump sound effect reminds me the one of G Sonic/Sonic Blast on the Game Gear. The spring sound however, is definitely not the classic sound effect.
You mean "with the exception of", or "excepting". "Expecting" does not mean what you think it means. Those are the Starlight Zone Bomb Badniks, not Bob-ombs.
One I see far too often and so it bugs me. Sorry if I was being a bit mean about it. But yeah, anyways, as far as this game goes... I'll be playing it on the 30th and maybe again on the 31st. That's right, I'm going back to PAX this year. Though this year, I ain't doing any more interviews. I ain't cut out for that shit! And I'd rather spend my time going around the Expo Hall and playing games, than talking to PR guys who can't answer any questions that pertain to unreleased info anyways. Besides, now that Ken Balough isn't with SEGA anymore, what'd be the fun in another interview? (Maybe I'd talk to Aaron, assuming he'll be there again this year but you never know, he might be too busy to do it this year).
@2:46 "Here is that little punk, I'd been dreaming about pounding his sorry blue butt" Is it just me or "pounding his butt" sounds kind of... Ya know, weird. Spoiler To be honest this whole "poem" sounded like it came straight out of a gay porn... Like some Smurfs parody or something like that.
Just a reminder that this is written by the guys who also wrote Happy Tree Friends and the commentary in Madworld. :v:
Who didn't see this coming as soon as they first unveiled the tube level segments? They've compartmentalized the core gameplay to such an extent that what we're left with is a bunch of glorified mini-games in place of actual level design. The snowball stage, the jungle stage with the small spheres to run around on, the pinball machine. Maybe they don't look so bad now, but come on, you've played 3D sonic games before and you're going to get frustrated when your capabilities are continuously narrowed down by the game to how well you handle the control stick and one button, as compared to using your timing to press several buttons and jostling the control stick to pull off some high-risk, high-reward platforming. The wisp powers alone show how gimmicky and limiting this kind of shit is. From the gameplay shown so far, Sonic looks to control awkwardly even at his slowest speed, making even regular old platforming busted. Even more concerning is, from the gameplay shown, the levels have very clean breaks between 2D and 3D segments, as compared to Generations, Colors and Unleashed. Surely they wouldn't undo their greatest accomplishment since 2008, something that acknowledged that certain level design and gameplay algorithms could only be enjoyed from certain angles? Best of both worlds and begging more exploration, there. Even worse is all the PR guys playing claiming innovation when you know for a fact that isn't true, otherwise you wouldn't see the goddamn wisps there, would ya? When this game is released, its title is going to come back to bite itself in the ass, because the "Lost" part is certainly shaping up to be the reality that transcends it.
Hey just so I'm current here, is DIMPS the only people developing the 3DS version? or is Sonic Team helping as well?
It appears to be only Dimps. The producer said 'Ah a totally different team is working on the 3DS version, it's really a different interpretation on the same game...'
Aw, really? The 3DS version is made by Dimps? ...That means it's gonna suck, isn't it? I'm too cheap to buy a Wii U!
If this is anything like Generations 3DS, it's gonna be a strong engine marred by empty level design. Let's not forget, though, that the 3DS version of Generations had much better classic physics than the console version.
Let's also remember that Generations 3DS was pretty much rushed out. Lost World appears to have been developed from the get-go for 3DS and tbh I think it looks great on the 3DS so far.
And don't forget that while, sure, it wasn't overly difficult, the DS Colors game was fucking brilliant.
It certainly was better than Rush 2 but oh the graphics. Such shit. The fact that it was a DS game is no excuse.
I know for a fact that I'm in a minority here, but I actually preferred the DS version over the Wii version. I also didn't see anything wrong with the former's graphics whatsoever.
