Wow! I'm glad a topic like this showed up. This is not the first time where I randomly heard music that made me think of Sonic music. Maybe someone can help me out with this... Steve Miller Band - Swingtown http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbXx2ag6L4I Particularly the solo that starts up at around the 2:54 mark and plays to the end. It reminds me of SOMETHING from Sonic, but I just can't place my fingers on it... Anyone? I thought at first it seemed similar to Hill Top Zone, but that's not quite right... Maybe something from the Sonic Advance games? SR-71 - Right Now (aka Kick Me When I'm High) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEpMhOOE7IM Not sure if this actually sounds like something that came before. I just heard it once and it just really sounds like the kind of rock music you'd hear in Sonic games these days. Just thought I'd share that. Westbam - Wizards of Sonic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCRtzFQ5Tzk Robotnik wants his royalty check now, please.
Found an eerily similar one today Dead Can Dance ~ Anywhere out this World http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOOScJXEmOY Phantasy Star Online ~ Revolution to the Origin Pt. 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJvJUNNpH6Q Also hear a bit of Kink in the Wind and the Way pt. 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ms4fA909Pw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=n8UuwHxw0rk#t=52s Which is also this! How is it that I'm just now noticing this... wow... just wow...
This just always reminds me of a later Sonic CD level. Perhaps a bad future set in something like Wacky Workbench or Quartz Quadrant. As it gets in to it I can really imagine it.
The Metal Sonic boss theme from Sonic 4 Ep. 2 always reminds me of part of "Necessary Evil" by the Dresden Dolls. And while there are definite differences, I can't stop mixing the two in my head whenever I either play Sonic 4 or listen to the song. It's getting frustrating. :P The bit it reminds me of kicks in at around 0:43 in the video below.
How about the SatAM song? It seams to be a direct take from the Back to the Future song here @ 0:50 http://youtu.be/hDVhSP5sUoY here @ 4:20 http://youtu.be/jszJvu44XMk
This song would fit perfectly in Metallic Madness!
Okay guys, I got another one for you. This song I found the other day sounds similar to an older, more retro era of Sonic. Back before the days of Adventure. Maybe something from Sonic R... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tZWLRh3xmU Wow. The ironic thing about this is, I've NEVER played Ristar before, ever.
Or even before. It's very similar to the sound of early Dreams Come True. Like all of these, which have similar bits to Labyrinth in them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPefERS7EZs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPefERS7EZs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlCC1XojRzM
This could probably be synced up perfectly with the lyrics to Dreams of an Absolution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YCoSF-voHY
This Song Sounds Like Spring Yard Zone. Seriously though, it's incredibly similar. This song somehow also reminds me of Dreams Come True, and Sonic R's style of music as well:
How about a lil' Sonic vs Sonic? from 0:30 to 0:33 it sounds like "I'm gonna reach for the stars!" being repeated over and over lol http://youtu.be/AVBsnnbbcpk Edit: sig too big
Slowpoke.jpg, I'm sure. It's possibly been noted before but I don't feel like reading 20+ pages to verify. the beginning of Believe in Myself and Bridge Zone are the same.
Is anyone really familiar with Yakuza 4's music? One of the Chase sections in Tanimura's story has a song that pretty much straight-up reuses the saxophone solo from Skyscraper Scamper Day, but I can't find it on YouTube to show the comparison. I found an account that (seemingly) has all of the music uploaded, but my internet connection is far too slow now to go looking through all of them. I know it's SEGA and a couple of Sonic Team's regulars likely contributed to the OST as a whole, but I searched "Yakuza" in this thread and nobody had pointed it out so I figured I would. (As a side note, I laughed harder than I should have when in Akiyama's story, he tells a girl to smile, in his club which happens to be called Elise. :v: )
I think the one you're looking for is called Fang Marked Viper. The only Sonic Team sound member credited outright for Y4 is Tokoi, and he composed this Terminal Velocity-esque piece (it was Kumatani who did Skyscraper Scamper, though). As for the sax, it's not that it's the same person playing or that it was sampled; tenor saxes are just plain typecast. On a side note (and for those interested), for Tokoi's other tracks: -Sadness resembles "Planet Wisp - Act 1" -Glee resembles "Event: Reflection" -Theme of Saigoh resembles "Asteroid Coaster - Act 1" -Theme of Sennin resembles "Planet Wisp - Act 2" -Theme of Naile resembles "Cyber Track - Act 1"
