Hahaha at all the cowards afraid of deserts and pyramids.

We get it, you suck too much, they are too hard for you. Go play Barney's Hide n' Seek. The rest of us can figure out the intriguing puzzles of pharaoh in his sandy tombs of mystery.

I kind of like Sandopolis zone. It at least makes the desert trope interesting. Normally I associate desert with boring music, lots of brown/tan colors, and just all around dullness. It's not a trope I enjoy much.

Yet make it white and then it's a snow level and I'll love it.

    Fffffff...!

Tone down the racism some, OK? Deserts are just as capable as snow. Being tan with a slightly different taste in music does not make them bad places.

This 'oh, I have one desert I like' argument is not really going to work.

SEGA should do a desert level + - in Antartica   . White Park seems too lively to be an abandoned theme park, which could have potentially been a rickety haunted zone in the snow.

Probably recently abandoned since Eggman's mechs ran the non-existant people out of the park. Hell Carnival Night was looking pretty spiffy for a carnival with no attendants, and Casino Night was pretty lively for a casino with no guests (Spring Yard zone looks like you're on the outskirts of the bronx or something. In the ghetto ).

Carnival levels are always suspiciously empty.

To ignore all this desert talk thats not going to happen anyways due to SEGA/Sonic Team/Fuckwhoever hating deserts...

Sounds fine to me. I checked over the wiki it seems everything adds up but just to make sure ask one of the wiki mods to make sure nothings amiss. Glad Ken is at least making an attempt to fix the mess Sonic 4 had even if its with the inconsistent storyline.

Well the Sonic 4 site said it was a deserted theme park specifically. I don't think Casino Night and Carnival Night were ever mentioned to be abandoned.

Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
I don't know how much power he has to fix that though. Only people like us really care about that.

EDIT: How is "Google" viewing this topic? O_o

It's a crawler. A bot that produces Google search results for Retro.

Robotnik created Carnival Night though. That's why it's empty. As for Eggman's Incredible Interstellar Amusement Park, however, it is implied by the PA system that there are people and living things in the park, and it is also implied that there have been deaths in the park.

Carnival Night it's on Angel Island, it's hard to belive it's native to the island, so yeah it's an Eggbotnik's Base, I wouldn't take the PA system too seriously, the only thing that was hurt by the Park were the Wisps and the planets' environment.
If considering Eggmanland is his ultimate dream since ever/sonic1 , it's not hard to belive he likes to disguise some of his bases as circus/amusement parks.

So, as always, in Sonic 4-2 it might be just him ****ing the forest with some "nice" useless place to "visit".

If Ken is not conviced, show him Knuckle's Angel Island Zone (You can't see the sea because it's flying), Lauch Base doesn't have a Death Egg, Sandopolis have the ghosts released, Lava Reef is also Death Eggless that helps to prove it's after Sonic's plot.

And Sonic's Eggrobo outro that shows him rising, that too.

Yeah, the whole Eggman created amusement thing's been alluded to in a lot of Sonic games. In Shadow The Hedgehog, Eggman creates Circus Park and throughout the level keeps asking Shadow about his rides and if he likes them. In Sonic Heroes, Vector states that "The Doctor must get pretty lonely sometimes", and the entirety of Sonic Colours is him showing off for people and playing as an amuement park manager. His Eggmanland in Unleashed also has a megaphone system which he uses to announce it, so as a character he's really quite lonely and likes attention. He creates all these robots in his likeness and goes as far as to create Orbot and Cubot, both of whom seem to piss him off big style. He hates being lonely but dislikes constant company as he's seen always building new and better robots and disregarding the ones he's currently got. He was overshadowed by his grandfather who then went fucking nuts and never seemed to have a real family or a place to belong. He is a tragic character really.

Not sure where that came from anyway, what were we talking about again??

I wouldn't mind a similar gimmick to Sandopolis' ghosts (I found them quite original and not frustrating enough to infuriate me or anything), but I'd rather have something new...

He was curious to see the origin of all the furry porn searches.

From what I understand it's a discussion related to White Park Zone's Origins, might be wrong.

And if I might be just a little off-topic regarding this topic, it really explains his ocasinal childish outbursts and the need for attention, a big chunk of his robots are based on bugs (kids like to collect them) or himself, everything he makes screams "Me!", also his disregard for stuff he doesn't care.

He's a genius old man and a bad child at the same time, result of an horrible childhood + beeing a member of the Robotnik Clan. :eng101:

Did it occur to anyone that this is a video game and that an amusement park theme is simply a style for a zone?

I really, really, really for reals do not see how relevant it is if 'someone was there' at one point.

It's because people love to speculate what a zone is all about to give them depth rather than them just being a pretty area to explore and have fun in.

Someone should make a pointless speculation thread so we can talk about wild theories. Who are the ghosts of sandopolis zone, why did Eggman throw Sonic and Tails signs all around his Casino, why does Spring Yard Zone look like its outside of the bronx, and many other fun topics. Create explanations for where there were none before.

EDIT: Done, the topic is called Robotnik is the 1%

Any speculations of what the "deeper story" of Sonic 4 is about?

It likely involves Robotnik trying to reclaim little planet. Nothing too inspiring, but hey that works for me just fine

EDIT: Hey look Sonic 4 footage that doesn't suck total ass since the player seems to know what they're doing

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9Qwy3r5lQco

The music sounds the same (Same title screen, world map, end of act, 1 up) :( Much better end of act tally though, and no more pointless Sonic 1 sprites for the sake of Sonic 1 sprites.

Going by the website alone, it seems apparent that Lost Labyrinth contains recorded documents or information of some sort about the Little Planet. Aside from the vague statement about Mad Gear having a purpose other than being a simple end-game mechanical base, there isn't that much to the first episode. As for how this works into Episode 2, Little Planet shows up along with Metal Sonic a few months after the whole EGG Station battle. Eggman restores Metal Sonic and they start the next phase of whatever their plan is.

As far as speculation for Eggman's master plan goes... seeing the Little Planet with that metal ring in the background:

Makes me think that he's going to encase it in a mechanical shell, kind of like this...

But unlike last time (Sonic CD), he'll have enough time to turn it into a giant death ship, not unlike the Death Egg.

So... that's about all I got. Not totally baseless speculation... I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.
