Well, I was gonna get this day 1, but this new footage makes me want to wait and see how good it is first.
Oh god, that was close. Emerald Coast appears to be an anomaly, because Casino Night, Water Palace, and Radical Highway look like they're gonna be much more fun.
Green Hill, Mushroom Hill and Emerald Coast look awful. We've seen those stages in full. The other stages we've seen teeny weeny clips, and they don't look too bad. I'm gonna side with TimmiT on this one.
Green Hill and Mushroom Hill are OK to me... But that Emerald Coast... There's no scenery, just wooden paths. Disgusting.
so, on the 3ds version, the only portable games they cover are Rush and Colors DS? I was at least Expecting Neo Green Hill's Layout for Classic Sonic's emerald coast, but no. They aren't even covering the Advance titles. This isn't worth getting it new. If I get this at all, it'll be used.
Ha, I thought this too at first, but then I realized many children will buy this because Sonic's face is on the cover....
So, how about some of the remaining stages (3DS version)? Radical Highway (Classic) No you can't turn it off. It's there and it's used forever. Water Palace (Modern) User has other levels too, like Tropical Resort (Classic), Shadow or Biolizard. It also has the final boss, but I guess it's better if you search for it (spoilers, you know).
Jeez, Dimps Classraped Sonic, is so disappointing... Crappy level design or simply ripped-off, and that "thing" is permanent just because they can't do anything remotely decent anymore. Well if they don't even try when playing as a Classic style is the premise of the acts no 1, even less it will be on Episode 2...
I didn't watch the boss fights, but those levels actually looked pretty good. I especially like Water Palace, since I'm a huge fan of water levels. They took some parts of the level design from Sonic Rush, but it's not a straight copy. They used element from both acts and there's a lot of new stuff as well. Especially in the classic level. Tropical resort looks nice as well, and the classic level has a lot in common with the DS version of colors. Jesus fucking christ... that's horrible. Seeing Classic Sonic going on higher paths via homing attack chains... who the fuck at SEGA approved of this? Words cannot express the disappointment I'm feeling right now.
The best thing about that recent slew of videos was the Biolizard. That fight seemed pretty cool actually, though it is a bit strange fighting it as Sonic. Egg Emperor seemed alright, aside from the awkward transition between areas. Definitely won't be buying this. The stage design and level selection, by and large, is pretty lackluster. Both of the Dreamcast stages in particular just look like complete embarrassments. No in-game Super Sonic is a pretty big bummer as well. Also, I'm still trying to figure out why Dimps thought it would be a good idea to not just give Classic Sonic the homing attack by means of an early plot event, but actually design the following stages with it in mind. Who seriously thinks of this crap? Was no one consulting them at all here?
Remember when we thought Sonic Team made shit games and wished Dimps would take over the series because the Advance games and Rush were so much better? The times, they are a changin'.
Wait a minute... WHERE IS THE DROWNING MUSIC? O_o The numbers appear, which would indicate that he's drowning, but back 2 back just keeps on playing. How in the world did they forget something like this?
This game should have really been delayed, seeing how it still looks like a prototype version (or in the case of Emerald Coast, a proof of concept).
