I'm not sure of this is worthy of a topic, but there's a guy who does speed runs on Sonic hacks and seeing as to how many views there are on his videos, I don't think not too many people has seen them. His youtube name is NG3661. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DCAd8lzG_s
Interesting :o! Definitely something to do on weekends, I was getting tired of watching original sonic speedruns :P
Same here, but even then you have to admit he did great on that level, especially with that moving gap part.
Isn't that glitch Sonic 3 only (I.e., fixed in S3K)? Also I think if you take the left path off the platform in chrome gadget you can get through that bit faster; let the springs push you right. It's not at all risky when doing it in Time Attack. I think if you jump almost immediately after the spindash in Endless Mine -- after breaking the rocks -- you can keep a more consistent speed through that bit. You just have to slow down a bit at the end of the half-pipe section. I'm also not 100% sure spindashing after that is actually faster than just running.
I've never been able to speedrun the 2D games. They've been played so many times by so many people for so many years, so it takes some crazy precision to be competive. I did try doing some things for Sonic Unleashed, though. This is my biggest accomplishment in that regard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkA_B-D91OQ
The Sonic CD TAS's have always held a place in my heart. Only thing that really annoys me is that the future is ruined for the sake of saving time.
I know this has been seen here on retro already, but I feel that it belongs in this thread.
By leaping off of the rail at about 30 seconds in, I guess you're able to skip the point where the level textures are loaded for the next area.
I've always liked it when people make Sonic jump huge distances, like the one landing on the rail. The only time I did something like that is Sonic's speed run attempt in SA2B's green hill.
That used to be how I skipped HUGE areas in Final Chase/Rush. It was hard to do and I died a lot, though.
