There's already "instant-thin" monitors, the "?" monitors. xP

    being an asshole =P
He meant to add those monitors at those places as well =P Although in the pillars case it wouldn't work if Sonic can't spin while jumping... maybe the idea of Sonic breaking monitors when stamping them while fat would be actually required here.

Actually, fat Sonic can still break things when he ROLLS, monitors and badniks included.

He's talking about this specific situation. There is now way to roll there at all.

Nice idea to use Tails there... (except that in that specific case I was playing Sonic Alone, and as I was playing at the mobile phone, I didn't have input for the 2P)

Another "solution" is to remove one of those pillars. (remove the left one, keep the right one)

Ok about the ? montiers and speed shoes, they can be fixed by breaking a ? moniter when you're not in speed shoes.

Um, you don't need to have 2P input, since it uses A.I. when 2P is not moving. But Tails can get pretty nuisance at Hill Top Act 2 since he's so nice and collects nearly all rings for you if you're not careful enough.

    I found a bit of a bug.

The pic's not really helpful, but what happened is:

I was about level 3 or 4 fatness, and I tried to curl down to do a spindash. I hopped up a little bit, the dust trail appeared, and when I hit the ground I started rolling and couldn't stop.

Okay, a few days ago I've finally beaten this game. (note: I was playing every now and then, on my spare time) Here are my thoughts about the levels:

    • Emerald Hill Zone - Pretty good, nothing to complain about.
    • Chemical Plant Zone - I played this one quite a few of times, but I can't remember why. Well, nothing to complain about.
    • Aquatic Ruin Zone - Good, but sometimes, at some places, it's easy to get stuck. I've already described one, in a previous post, but there are others (and some of them DON'T need fixing). Maybe it was missing a "?" monitor after one or another loop. Overall, it's not bad.
    • Casino Night Zone - Easy to get stuck in a few places (I've already described one, many posts ago), and maybe missing "?" after some loops. Lack of space to burn fat sometimes is an issue, but other times we have lots of space.
    • Hill Top Zone - I don't remember having issues with this one.
    • Mystic Cave Zone - Also pretty good, I didn't have issues with this one.
    • Oil Ocean Zone - Oh dear... This one was VERY annoying. I got stuck LOTS of times at the same place, plus a few other times elsewhere. This level doesn't have too many "?" monitors, it doesn't have enough ground to run and burn fat, and it requires some high jumps in order to advance. A few "?" might solve this.
    • Metropolis Zone - This one was a breeze. Whenever I got fat, it was easy to just run and become thin again (which is the opposite of the previous zone)
    • Sky Chase Zone - Another one that was a breeze. GREAT idea to have a "?" monitor placed at the flying ship!
    • Wing Fortress Zone - I also had no issues with this one. "?" monitors well placed, and enough space to burn fat whenever needed. However... The boss was annoying. It's more difficult because regaining lost rings will also make Sonic fat, which means your priority must be avoiding being hit.

So... Congratulations on this hack! :)

  12. I'm annoyed I wasn't recording me going through this hack when I got to the Aquatic Ruin Zone. I had somehow managed to get Sonic up to the point where he couldn't move, but I had hit a spring so that gave me some momentum. Went past the goal, and the "Sonic has passed Act 1" came up... only for Sonic to die off screen.
I thought it was just funny how it happened. True it was annoying, but considering on how it happened, I thought it was great.

Oil Ocean - Factory of onion rings.

They then transfer to Casino Night, the mobius McDonald restaurant.

Tell to your friends to stop living under a rock because most of the self service restaurants here have onion rings.

    Porra, nunca comeram Cebolitos não?

    xD

  15. All of those "steak and burger" restaurants like Outback, B-52 and Joe & Leo's have onion rings. I'd say they are fairly common nowadays, but they are surely not part of the average Brazilian person's menu.

Well, cebolitos are not actual onion rings, but I guess that someone playing this hack could end up thinking of them.

I think onion rings are hard to portray accurately with MD/Genesis sprites, but the fact that part of their name is also the name of the object they are replacing makes it easier for an English-speaking person to figure out what they are. Since the rings in Sonic games are called either "anéis" or "argolas" in Portuguese, and AFAIK we have no food named with these words (we usually don't translate "onion rings", we just use the English name), the connection is harder to make. But honestly, realizing that it's some kind of round food is enough, it doesn't matter what kind it is.

    I know I did.

Cebolitos é bom mas é caro por meia embalagem vazia.

  17. Cheaper restaurants/fast food places have onion rings here, too. I'm pretty sure I saw them at Habib's or Burger King the other day. I might be mistaken, though.

Ou meio cheia, depende se você é pessimista ou não.
