Well, I suppose if someone is willing to shell out 5 digits for Jesus toast, it's not outside the realm of possibility that someone pay for this. I still can't see anyone paying 10 grand for Sonic 1. Especially since you can walk into any retro game store and pick it up for 3 bucks. Research, people!

I've read that people bid on shit like this not because they're dumb, but to fuck with the seller. I believe ebay charges you a percentage of the price it goes for, so they make these outrageous bids with the intent that the seller will have to pay a huge portion of the money, then they disappear and never send the money.

Of course, the seller then files a grievance with ebay to waive the fee, and it eventually goes away. but it's just a way to make the seller go through more trouble.

 

That may very well be, but part of me hopes that someone bidding on it is a total dumbass thinking "Oh boy! A Sonic gaem for me?"

well, while what I read may or may not be true, I'll never, ever doubt the stupidity of people in the internet. There is a definite possibility in my mind that it could be some rich dumbass who is just itching to buy a RAEL ORIJUNLE ZONIC TEH HAMSHOG GAEM.

0 bids again. Too bad. But looks like it is the original "Not for Resale" version of Sonic 1. The first picture he probably just found on Google Images.
I have one of those too but no box. Maybe I could sell it for $5,000!

I think the second picture is his, the one with "NOT FOR RESALE". The first one... I don't know what that's all about. Anyway, it's still not worth $10,000, or even $1,000, or even $100. Anyone trying to get that much out of the game is crazy.

And now the bidding on this thingy has ended prematurely... due to obvious reasons. "The seller has relisted this item or one like this." He now must have realized how stupid he was.

 

I'd like to add my opinion in this matter.

First off four grand is way too much for Sonic 1. I would pay five bucks on a good day or seven with the manual in mint condition. I also think this guy isn't sharp on Ebay selling either, even if he is a scam artist (not saying he is) no one is going to pay four grand for Sonic 1 or even a beta of Sonic 1. I'm content with my two Sega Genesis consoles and my Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Sonic and Knuckles cartridges, though I'm considering giving them away since I use emulators which are far more reliable. I think I still have saved games on Sonic 3 and Knuckles speaking of.

 

I messaged him asking about the hefty price tag. Awaiting response, and will post.
