Maybe there could be a "Press B for Bulimia" button where Sonic sticks his finger in his throat and "ringurgitates" (a.k.a. vomits 20 or so rings back out, which scatter about as if he'd got hit) in order to lose 1 "tier" of weight. Idea?
That could work, would help where there is no room to run... but I'm sure that a tier of weight costs 5 rings, not 20.
Considering there are 6 tiers of fatness and about 35-40 rings doesn't quite kill you yet, I think it's about 6 or 7 rings per tier But what am I saying I didn't even play the game I just watched videos!!!
The idea was meant to be a "panic button", the use of which would have to be discouraged... so naturally the punishment wouldn't be in fair proportion to the payoff. ;P See it like this; even if Sonic 'ringurgitates', they're already partially digested, already in Sonic's 'system'. You'd need to wharf up more then usual to lose a given amount of weight. Plus, it gives a bigger impact on how destructive Sonic's eating disorder has become ;P

It's quite a bit lower: I've hit immobile at 20 rings before (Ring boxes are very effective at fattening Sonic up quickly: 2 on the trot ~= death).
Yeah, except it would be quite useful if you're stuck and you have too little room to lose weight by running.
