There was really no context for his statement, so you could really interpret it however you want. I will agree that Valve doesn't (usually) hype up delays like they're a good thing, though.

    Seems about right.
I'm going with #3 as well because I'm optimistic about this kind of thing.

Also, after listening to the soundtrack, I'm actually pleased. Sure, there's SHZ 1, most of the Casino level, and the Special Stage, but aside from that, it's pretty good.

It is true that it probably won't stop until we see some changes, if any. Should probably take a break from posting in here! This is my 19th post in this topic, that was your 321st. :v:

  4. Ya, I meant more of this:

    Than this:

I've never complained about the delay...guess what a leak and a delay got Half Life 2? Pretty much the best game ever made (behind Sonic of course). Waiting stinks, but Valve has always. always. always made it worth it.

    Yes.

I don't really think Ruby meant to cause so much hype for the delay, just us fans interpreting it the wrong way.

Anyway, I personally think the delay is a good thing. It gives them time to fix any of the physics problems they were having (although I was personally fine with the way the game was).

They announced they were going to make an announcement.

Disregarding the stupidity of constantly announcing announcements, how the hell is this expected to not generate hype?

WHAT! iPhone exclusive levels!? Sega just seems to have a knack of messing things up.

I'm certain we'll see those iPhone levels as future DLC.

On my butt in front of the computer. Where else?
I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
They said the iPhone levels are meant to take advantage of what the iPhone can do, which... probably means they're more gimmick acts, and thus probably not something we console peeps need to be envious of. They might even just be replacing the gimmick acts we already have. (Although some can hope the gimmick acts from the console version are getting shoved off to the iPhone, I'm more inclined to think this is something they were working on before the delay happened.)

(...If you're wondering why I'm here despite saying I was going to sleep and won't be online much because of Galaxy 2, that's... actually because of Galaxy 2. I woke up, and now I can't get back to sleep. And there's still six hours to go. Damn it all.)

The Port Sonic 4 to the PC petition has now increased to over 300 signatures. It only had around 158 signatures yesterday. It's good to see that this is getting more attention.

Yes, there is a huge chance that SEGA will ignore this but they need to listen. PC ports of Sonic games are generally picked up by a lot of people, they are popular. Adding Sonic 4 to this platform will increase sales. There is a huge chance of piracy, but that's what happens to most games that are released to the PC. It's life.

There are people who have no access to the current list of platforms and want the sequel that they have been waiting for 16 years to surface on the PC. Even if Sonic 4's latest fixes turn out to be poor, I'll still buy it.

Way to bitch about nothing. These levels are meant to take advantage of iPhone's touchscreen.

OH GEE WHIZ, EXCLUSIVE LEVELS?! SEGA RUINED EVERYTHING!1

No they aren't. The SA:DX, Heroes, and Riders PC ports were all budget releases done months after the console releases. All-Stars Racing for PC lacks online play because Sumo Digital figured everyone was just going to pirate the game anyway and it wasn't worth the effort. Sega simply doesn't see a market on the PC for Sonic games, and frankly, neither do I.

I agree. Sonic games on the PC aren't necessary to increase sales. In fact, I can't remember a time after Sonic R that I even knew that PC versiosnwere still being played.

Is there any mention of a Sonic 4 PC version on the SEGA forums?

I'd assume there are plenty. They have one about the petition, for example.

Also, while on the forum I noticed quite a few threads and posts by Solaris Paradox, and shortly afterwards + - lol postcount   . ;)

  17. Yup Solaris goes there a lot. Though I don't know why.

Also, I laughed so hard at a thread where a dude asked if Sonic 4 will be iPad compatible...
Of course it is. All iPod/iPhone games are compatible with the iPad, just bigger.

Also, some dude there said: "Why would they put it on a platform for the wealthy, and only like, a 100 people own?"
Moron! LOADS of people own an iPod touch and iPhone, so the market is HUGE. PC's are more expensive than an iPod touch, and barely anyone plays Sonic games on a PC.

Why wouldn't they put it on the AppStore.

Tons of people hate playing games on the ipod touch though. I'd personally rather see it on the psp or the new 3ds that's been announced.

I own an iPhone and I approve of an iRelease of Sonic 4. Just hopefully they move the pinball and minecart levels to it and leave it at that.

Scartillery, good point; I imagine a lot of iPhone/iPad owners are 15-25ish, so I can foresee it selling well to those who vaguely remember the original(s) and have some spare [pocket] money (which they're probably not short of, if they have one of those). I suppose this also applies to the console releases. Overall it's probably a main reason for the game being download-only. Low overheads and guaranteed impulse-buys ahoy!
