This Sonic 1 is from 1993 while the Sonic 1 from Sonic Jam is from 1997, and Sonic 1 JP is from late 1991. This is the Sonic 1 MegaPlay arcade, And I ported it back to Genesis yesterday. Have a great time playing it. I had! ^_^

The MegaPlay version is now playable in Gens! You'll see the high score above. And it plays the special stage music ^_^

Thanks to me for knowing every routine in Sonic 1, I was able to cut off the coin wait period, and also a few other unknown calls. Now it works. With some hacking Marble Zone and Labyrinth Zone are the same, but they start at 0:00 time so you'll just get time over directly.

I probably should get back to work on my site someday...
This is great! Now there's actually somewhat of a challenge and a time limit for some of the farther ahead levels (yes I know there's already a time limit of 9:59 in the originals, but anyone can beat that time).

lol yeah the time limit is 10:00 cos you can actually finish a level at 9:59 without dying... but that's close :o

I thought the time stopped while you were in that thing?!

Maybe I'm getting it confused with that bit in SAdv3... Why do ST have to change their engine all the time? lol

Because it's on a different platform, the Genesis engine would be mostly useless on the GBA =P

And no, the timer does not stop in LBZ2. Matter of fact, I don't think there are any times during normal level play when the timer stops, even if you have no control over the player.

I think in Sonic & Knuckles Collection, the time stops at that part and throughout the rest of the stage. And for that reason, you couldn't go Super against Sonic 3's final boss (if I remember right).

EDIT: confirmed that the time stops in hte PC game.

Nothing that concerns this place in the least.
The names on the score screen seem to be messed up for some odd reason...

...You weren't the first one, many people had tampered with the ROM since PACHUKA managed to get it dumped.

This is a really neat version of s1. Lost is a really good hacker! I'm just wondering, though, how do you port an arcade game to the genesis?

The code was already partially converted, if I remember correctly. I don't know the perpendiculars, ask LOst.

What L0st did was to alter the existant arcade ROM so it would start at the screen that appears once you've inserted a coin, instead of the black screen that waits forever until the Mega Play system tells it to.
