Things in Sonic Games you misinterpreted when you were younger...

EDIT: I'm sorry, that kind of retarded post could have got me suspend'd! Here's some more:

I thought that in Triple Trouble, when you drown Knuckles (and later save him), that the drown'd one was a clone/robot/whatever.
And Tail's had more awesome that Sonic :v:

You know, I used to think the same thing. I mean look at it. I still think they do... :v:

 

I thought they wore one of these. It makes sense, what with the drilling through the ground and all.

 

Why not? It makes perfect sense to me

 

My brother pronounces chao completely wrong and claims I'm an idiot when I say otherwise. One of my friends went through childhood thinking Tails was Sonic's girlfriend (until I corrected him, thankfully).

AND I HAD NO CLUE WHAT AN ECHIDNA WAS. NOR COULD I EVER PRONOUNCE IT. It was very frustrating.

 

I used to think the scrolling clouds in Hill Top Zone was a river. Clearly I couldn't link the name with the zone's setting. Also, I used to be sure that a neon '50s-style robot was part of the Casino Night Zone boss. I would look forward to getting there to see it, only to realise it was just Robotnik! How I got the idea in the first place I will never know.

 

I thought badniks were actually animals that somehow transformed into robots, and that jumping on them would make them go back to normal.

 

- Tails was a girl / Sonic's girlfriend
- Knuckles was a dog
- called Sonic a "hedge hawk" (had no idea what a hedgehog was)
- Roller was a prototype Metal Sonic
- thought that debug and level select were OMGSUPERSEKRIT
- thought DBZ was referencing Sonic when they had Super Saiyans, when it was really the other way around
- thought Shadow (the character) was awesome and that SA2 was the graytist Sawnik gaym evar :v:
- thought SatAM, AoSTH, the Archie comics and the games were all one continuity
- thought StC was "too different" from the games compared to Satam when it was really the other way around
- thought the games were doing Robotnik wrong by making him look nothing like Milton Knight's design

I was a weird kid.

 

Me and my best friend at the time didn't know how to say "Sandopolis" and for some reason we always jokingly ended up saying "Sand Plop-Dop". I have no idea where that pronounciation came from! :v: We were only 4 or 5 at the time though!

I also got in the habit much later (during the Dreamcast era) of pronouncing "Chao" as "Cho". I still do it now sometimes out of habit. I don't know how I got into that habit when Tikal clearly says "Chao".

 

Not quite a misinterpretation, but something I felt was worth mentioning:

The final boss from Sonic CD always sounded a bit too much like a washing machine for comfort. In fact, my brother and I refer to it as the "Washing Machine Boss". Anyone else hear the resemblance? Particularly when Robotnik's spinning in the air and the noise is faster. Reminds me of the spin cycle.

 

I don't think I ever misinterpreted anything, really. But I recall having a hard time remembering Sonic's name initially. I knew Tails (he's the guy with the tails, see), but there was nothing to remind me what Sonic's name was. He was just "fast spiky blue man".

Oh, right. I used to pronounce Chao as "K-O". And I thought Big and E102 were fan characters initially.

 

I remember I always thought the bugs or glitches in Sonic 3 were secrets left by the staff. Specially that bug in Hydro City that would change Super Sonic's sprite into the normal one, but only with a palette change. Also, after the last boss in Angel Island, I thought it was another secret that you could jump from the bridge before Knuckles pressed the switch. Mostly every glitch I encountered was misinterpreted with a secret, I had the false impression that Sega worked really hard on that area.

I fall in the Sonic Clone category in Sonic 1, and the weird balloon platform in Casino Night. Also, I always thought Tails was a girl, and even though there are new Sonic games that say the contrary, I still doubt it.

 

Sonic Unleashed. He is really a she.

Before ever playing SA1, I pronounced Tikal wrong, and still do sometimes even now. I say "Teekle" instead, and it annoys me to no end. Echidna Tikal Massala sounds tasty though.

 

Not quite a misinterpretation too, but when I played Sonic 2, I listened to the Hidden Palace Zone music back then. (I didn't know what its name was.)
I thought it was a secret unlockable level, which you can unlock when you have done something special.
I really have tried everything. But since I never could beat the final boss.. meh..

Another thing is, I got in Sonic 1 into the debug mode, !but! in a very different and complicated way. (Well, I didn't know the debug code so..) I move the game cartridge always a bit out or moved it around when the game was at the title screen. Sometimes an illegal instructions error occured and then I have to press C a few times until the game started, and I was playing around with the debug mode. It was pretty fun when I was a kid, though.
I tried the method with Sonic 2, too, but it never worked unfortunatley. I always wanted to beat the final boss. I was so jealous when my mom did it, but I never could see the ending - until today. :specialed:

 

When I was a Kid I thought, and hoped that locking Sonic 3 onto Sonic & Knuckles, onto Sonic & Knuckles (yes, twice) that I'd get to play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles at the same time. =P
Man, I really want that. =P

 

One I just remembered: In Hidden Palace Zone, when Knuckles waves Sonic on to follow him after the floor collapses, I used to think he was flexing his arm muscles to see if he still had the strength to punch the wall down.

 

I used to misinterpret the name of some zones in Sonic & Knuckles, like calling Death Egg Zone "Dezenol Zone", and Sky Sanctuary... well, "Sky Sacturan".

That's all I can remember right now.
