To touch a Hedgehog

All joking aside, I'm guessing he'd feel like a normal hedgehog.
Then again, I have no idea, and no one ever will because Sonic doesn't exist in real life.

 

Eh.. like a real hedgehog? I had one, and it was obviously furry, and his spikes were pretty bristly, but still just felt like thicker and tougher fur. So I guess the picture Frozen Nitrogen posted is pretty accurate.

Actually, I never thought of the texture of Sonic's skin myself, but there's a good reason why that is. I image Sonic's skin in made of some kind of smooth rubbery material. I imagine the same thing for Yoshi (who doesn't have scales despite being a dinosaur) and other cartoon animals that don't have any apparent fur. It's easy to image that Tails has fur because it's plainly evident by the way his fur is drawn, but not Sonic. Sonic's fur/skin/whatever is nothing more than a solid color painted on the character. Same thing for Knuckles.

 

First of all: gross.

Secondly, hell if I know. His spines are definitely fused, so I guess you can think of them as giant quills that were once bundles of smaller quills. As for the rest of his body, I dunno. Microscopic quills? This topic is making me feel very dirty.

 

If you try to touch Sonic in a way or place that makes him feel uncomfortable, then that's no good!

 

Which is more aerodynamic? Hedgehog quills, beagle fur, or latex? Also, we have to consider that maybe Sonic's just wet all the time. If it were latex, and Sonic were dry, going down a tube would be the equivalent of running onto a dry slip-n-slide. If it were fur or quills, then Sonic would be oily as fuck. Also, shedding. I think the only conclusion we can come to is thus:

Sonic feels like a TV screen.

And why was a dog's genitalia boxed in that picture?

 

I always thought he'd be like, a regular hedgehog with fur around his face, tummy, arms and legs, but spines on his back.
I kinda get weirded out by the thought of spines with fur on them :|
This really is a strange debate!

 

I've wondered this a few times myself. From what I can gather he seems to have a furry quality to him like a real hedgehog. Lucky for me, I'm getting two pet hedgehogs tomorrow!

I'm more concerned with how he sees.

 

They Done the quills WRONG!! They're supposed to be spikey like a real hedgehog (or a porcipine for that matter).

He mostly felt like a real hedgehog, furry, yet spikey.
