How would you redesign Sonic the Hedgehog?

I attempted Knuckles and got stuck when I realized I'd need to redraw part of his shoes.

Though honestly I feel like modern Knuckles got off pretty well. He barely seemed to change at all aside from what was necessary to match the rest of the cast. Even if he got a redesign like the Sonic in this thread I might want his new muzzle structure to stay intact.

Why does he suddenly have a dog's tail? It's all furry and shit.

EDIT: I mean how pixely and blurred it looks.

 

Okay, here's what I got for Tails. Blech. Also, HAHA at OSM's comment, you sound so indignant.

 

His Old Design didn't have a bent tail. And yeah I fucked up on the shading. Shoot me.

I remember ages ago when I got the PC version of Sonic 3D Blast it came with a card that had the 3 characters standing together, and there he had a Bent Tail. Sadly I do not have said card anymore.

Just to nitpick, I say people either edit the soles of the shoes to blend in, or keep them in- removing them makes the shoes look weird.

 

His mouth is a little too open but otherwise that looks great.

Although you're correct on the assumption that I've never really sat down and really drew a Sonic picture. The presented image is as you said, just a doodle.

 

The colors are gorgeous. Wow, I love that.

I liked the OVA, period. Fuck, if the Retro Photoshop Redesign? looks like a 3D OVA Sonic (which it does), it could do worse than to sound like him too.

 

Since Shadow's upwardly-pointing spikes appear similar to modern Super Sonic's spikes, wouldn't it make more sense that a classic looking Shadow would have spikes that looked like classic Super Sonic's?

And OVA Sonic is the only decent Sonic voice actor.

This will be my second post (first being the temorary board thing), I am new to these forums.... I gues is what I am saying. So please be patient with me, I havn't fully figured out the whole posting layout.

Anyways I have been reading this thread before becomming a member and made a post on the Offical Sega Forums and I would like to contribute to the redesign of Sonic. I do like the current Sonic Unleashed character model, it is the best one by far and is very pixar-ish which melded with Sonic charm is a very nice combination. But it seems both on these forums and on the Sega one that Sonic should go back to classic design roots.....
