I fail to remember if I was going or not on the S2Beta message board back in the days it all started in 1999...To remember old people...I probably would remember them only if they were also going on the TPCG (which was called TSPG at the time) board at that time. :P

I think you did, cause I got lots of hoaxes from you :P

And you were also in SoStH and Sonic Pandemonium, both of which were way before TPCG or TSPG.

Wait...are you saying you still got my old hoaxes?! If so, I'd like to get them back if possible, I lost many of them...

TSPG meant "The Sonic Pandemonium Gang" so that couldn't be before Sonic Pandemonium :P

No I don't have them any more. Nayr said he saved part of the hoax archive on another hard drive, so it may be in there. But he's disappeared lately...

    Oh, okay then :)

Oh, okay. I've also been wondering what happened to him...he just vanished without any warning. Thanks anyway.

SoStH - I checked the Theories archive a while ago, and found one really crappy theory as to why S2&K wouldn't work (this was before the 256K ROM was found). It stated that emulators weren't giving Sonic & Knuckles the correct command line arguments for Sonic 2. Apparently the person who wrote the theory didn't know that the MD doesn't use a command line, and it's not DOS...

This board seems to have an A51-ish feel about it, and I have no idea why. O_o

Yeah I agree with you totally, maybe its because it's the original sonic 2 beta site and its back and bigger and better than ever and run by Simon.
Whatever it is, I like it :)

    sure does, I think because:
    1: it's a PHPBB
2: Some of the original members of A51 are here

What the hell, this place has been said to feel like
    1) Old s2beta
    2) Sonic Cult
    3) Area 51
    at the same time.

Is it gonna blow up?

I think it has a new feel to it... just my two bits. I'm still looking for the hard drive with the hoaxes on it and I KNOW I have a few of SonKnuck's on there (as they were actually some of my favs if I recall) as well as the animated GIF of Sonic going super on the HPZ stone. All I have to do is find the drive, which is somewhere in this blasted house >,<. Anyway, that's that.

I hope you can find it. Saxman may also want his earliest hacking guide, if you have saved it. And the "fake hoaxes" could be a reminder of what the scene was before hacking went popular.

The earliest version of Damian's guide I found on this comp is this:

    "=================================
    Sonic 2 Hacking Guide v1.00

(Use "Word Wrap" for this file)

Welcome to my Sonic The Hedgehog 2 hackers guide! I will be able to tell you how to choose your lives, levels, edit object mapping (the way the 32x32 sprites are lines up on a single sprite), and more. Right now, my notes are very sketchy. You may not even understand some of it. I am constantly working on this, so expect to see major updates. Oh, and one more thing. If you use Microsoft Developer Studio, you will uderstand the code pointers well enough. If you use HEX, ignore the first zero. This has confused many people.

    Wood DC Emerald Hill
Hidden Palace D4 is the default for all the levels in the full Sonic 2. I tried changing it and I got a blank screen. This tells me that I am getting warmer to getting its art back!

There are a total of 4 levels that were taken out. They are labeled:

    ??? 01
    Wood 02 43
    ??? 03
Genecide City 09 <----Level name data still exist!

So actully, there was 16 levels at one time.

Graphics are displayed by tile sets. The art in Hidden Palace is not displayed correctly simply because the tile set value is not correct. The tile value is set to display Oil Oceans art. This is because in early beta versions of the game, Hidden Palace actually came before Oil Ocean and when it was removed, Oil Ocean took over that level slot. Hidden Palace still reads this section though. Also, there is a data section that sets witch sections are walls/floors, and which you can go through. I found that out by doing an experiment. I don't know what the section is though. Anyway, this is proof that the Hidden Palace Zone CAN be restored correctly.
