Do you own the cart? If you do, is there any differences in the ROM?

I bet it was created in the jungles of South America. In which case, don't prick your fingers on the pins, or you'll get infected and die from liver disease.

I bet the starting character is Pikachu.

But yeah, never seen a yellow cart. Seen a black cart with red highlights.

Haha, neat! Do you know how to obtain this, or did you just find a picture of it or something?

The Sega seal thing is screwed up too by the way.

The cartridge has a notch on the side (JP region), which means the ROM is probably hacked to be region-free. I suspect that they also hacked the Sega logo out of the game, too.

Won it on ebay for around $7. ;) I'll dump it when I get it so we can check for differences.

Yellow color could mean it was distributed in Russia, not only the 8-bit NES clones were called "Zhiliton" (it had only yellow carts if you didn't know)

    Maybe it's a Super Pirate.

I wouldn't expect anything too special, but it's nice for archival purposes.

This is very interesting nice find! Also if it is pirated, most likely it'd play slightly different than the original. Have you played it on your Genesis yet?

Are pirates more likely to be betas or something? I mean aren't they usually just hacked a bit?

If that. There is the chance, though, that it is a pirate along the lines of somari, or sonic blast 6.

I think it's safe to say there's a 0% chance of that. I've never seen any original Sonic games that pirates have made besides that cheap sprite hack of the Mario Bros port, and I doubt something new could be found within a cart advertising itself as Sonic 3.

Nice, Donkey Kong 64 Cartridge Style haha!

...Well, I live in South America, and never saw one of these here, also, my Sonic 3 pirate is just a black cartridge with no rom diferences except for the Sega logo all screw up at game start.

    Welp, this.
What I find particularly strange about this pirate is the Genesis art used, as I'm willing to be it's a Korean/Chinese/Taiwanese pirate.

There's a ROM floating about with the level select enablec called the "Russian pirate" so give A+Start a bash.

Got it today. I tried it out a little.

The "SEGA" screen has garbled graphics. A soft reset will skip the sega screen and go directly to the title screen. It seems pretty normal otherwise, and even locks on with S&K to make S3K.

I will try to dump it and upload it soon.
