Sonic 2: Tag Team

    Instead of Super, you could probably have him respawn with bounce attack or something.

    Or just have him blink and re-appear like he does in Sonic Advance 3 and Project Mettrix. I never had any problem with that.

    Or maybe you could have Tails fly Sonic back on screen, and then after dropping him off -- next to the Tails you are playing as, which I thought should be noted (in case you were getting confused) -- fly off-screen again (like he does at the beginning of Carnival Night Zone in Sonic 3.) Then, at least, this:

    would make some level of sense (I.e. that there actually are two Tailses.) ;P


    No seriously though, maybe Sonic could just run and/or jump back on screen. Or maybe he could an action which would look like the reverse of what he does in Sonic CD when you leave the game un-paused and don't do anything for like a minute... except he'd be moving forward at a fast enough pace to catch up to Tails should the latter happen to be moving at the time of Sonic's return. But that might be kind of difficult to implement into the gameplay just right (I wouldn't really know.)

    After reading all the replies, I went ahead and fixed most of the bugs. :)
    I however could not fix CNZ2. Please let me know what you find.

    Just played it now, fantastic! I can see that most of the mentioned/found bugs are now fixed.

    But I came across this one in CPZ...

    It happened after I entered the First Special Stage. I came straight out (after getting it) and I swapped with the A Button. Then this happened =P

    I don't really know what caused it, but... It might just be an overall glitch.

    EDIT: Incase you cant see whats going on in there, Sonic has garbled tiles and is hidden under Tails, in the platform, and I am unable to do anything but reset.

    If you finish a level as Tails, then in the next level, Tails will sometimes have some messed up collision if you switch to him. In Aquatic Ruin, the pillars were all solid and I had to fly over them.

  9. Is it just me, or do the speed boots not work on Tails? Other power-ups are perfect, though. That would mean you just forgot to allow him to use them in co-op.
    Also, not that big a glitch (similar to that one where you jump in your running sprite in Sonic 1) but...

    Coming to think on it, doesn't this coop feature pretty much override the SuperSonic bug? Say, you get stuck as SuperSonic after going past the sign post, then you switch to Tails and finish the level that way :o

    It would, but I set Super Sonic up the way it is in S&K with double jump.

    No, they do not. And I think I am going to keep it that way. I would like each character to have their own abilities that the other cannot use.

    Small note: collecting a shield power up and then switching characters causes the shield to be lost. I would think that it would make sense to transfer the shield when switching characters, or at least keeping it on the character who collected it, or perhaps having a check along the lines of "character x has a shield saved up, so when switching back to them, make the shield reappear" or something.

    Maybe that's because I haven't found what's causing it. Just calm down, I'll most likley work on this some more. Keep in mind I did use a few of your ideas too.

    This release is much better!

    However, when Tails is flying he can't just harm things with his Tails, (like in Sonic 3) but his whole body. This makes bosses easy, you can just bounce on top of them while flying until they are defeated. This isn't really a bug as such, but I decided to point it out!

    EDIT: Also in CNZ2 the arena doesn't seal off when the boss appears:

    When I switced back to play as him he fell to the ground and played as if nothing had happened though.

    Great work so far, I can see most of the bugs are fixed and that this is turning out a very stable hack, on another note I had an idea, why not try character switching within the special stage? that would make things alot more interesting =P

    Such a fun hack to mess around with! Great work ^.~

    I managed to get invincibility for both characters ^^
    I was swapping between both characters and got a second invincibility box as Tails while Sonic was offscreen, I think.

    Also, I was able to get an unlimited speed boost for Sonic. And when I'm playing as Tails, Sonic is constantly breaking and trying not to get in front because he is moving too fast. Looks hilarious ^^;

    This is an amazing hack! It has always been a dream of mine to play as Tails with Sonic following you!

    As I don't hack games myself and don't have the time to learn doing so - I was wondering - would it be easy enough to make a hack with one extra player option called "Tails and Sonic" (instead of "Sonic and tails") with Sonic following tails (and no other extras)?

    When you collect a shield then switch characters, the shield is gone. You could make it to switch characters but keep the shield on the leader. Other than that, great concept, I hope it could turn out into a 2d style sonic heroes.
