Ya know it's my own fault for not checking the the database for the WF mixes. I see what you mean it is bloody epic. The first few seconds lit my eyes up with how good it sounds.

Nice and loud and dramatic feeling, sounds great to me. Not sure how close it is to the original since I haven't listened to it very recently.

I can totally understand your thought process for the light bass. Rather than being pro-exact dynamic matching, my feeling for MCZ in particular is that unlike a jazz piece there isn't too much going on in front of the bass, totally unlike jazz (though sometimes Smooth Jazz can be light on the front end.) However, I actually think it's imperative that the bass comes out in MCZ because I agree with others who believe that a spookier-sounding instrument such as a theremin was the aim for the melody line, and it adds to that effect if it is mastered at an equal level to, or fluctuating below/above the level of the bass when you get to the final mix.

While I've popped in, anyone know if there's a SF bank for the Yamaha DGX keyboard line out there? I've got some good sounds on my keyboard (I own the 505) but I want to be able to eventually use them in FL Studio and would LOVE to be able to avoid going through recording the sounds myself.

For whatever reason, when I think of a remastered version of the Final Boss theme I imagine it sounding like The Imperial March.

I'm liking what you've got so far BP.

  5. It's not dramatic enough, in my opinion. Any BANGs need to be emphasised more. Even still, it's very good.

That's the first remix I've heard here that I've actually liked. It's actually identifiable as the original but isn't just a bunch of cheap instruments slapped on an existing MIDI transcription.

Speaking of cheap instruments, here's a very early WIP render of Oil Ocean Zone: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2594451/ (warning, site is NSFW)

I seriously do not want to say. :S My ears think something terrible has happened but I keep listening to it!

I agree with BP; is it even worth anyone making any more contributions for those stages :P

Here are my newest tries for both Aquatic Ruins Zone and Oil Ocean Zone:

I also added a little bit of industrial sounds to it, to give it the feeling that you were at an oil rig. Hope it sounds right. :3

I'm not sure if I got the correct feeling for this one, so could ya tell me if I did please? ;S

Also, I think it's best that if we're gonna try to make the best revamps of these classic tunes, we should figure out what genre would best work for each one. Here's what I think each Zone would work best with(not covering EHZ since that one's ok):

    Chemical Plant Zone: Techno
    Aquatic Ruins Zone: Latino
Casino Night Zone: Jazz (this one's a no-brainer)
    Hill Top Zone: Country
    Mystic Cave Zone: Rave
    Oil Ocean Zone: Arabian
    Metropolis Zone: Industrial
    Sky Chase Zone: Trance
    Wing Fortress Zone: Orchestral
    Death Egg Zone: Techno
    Boss: Ska (IMO)
Final Boss: Orchestral/Techno (combo of this)

But that's just my opinion on the matter.

Anyways, hope ya think my stuff here is ok, and tell me how I could fix it up to sound even better, ok?

I'm not a fan of either one. The instruments in both have these annoying gurgling effects to them, and the emphasis sounds just plain off at many points.

This is quite a nice take, but I think the drums might be wrong for it, and it needs to sound a little more dynamic. Fantastic start, though. :)

Hahahaha, I was wondering why no one had said that yet.

Trust me 90% of the banners there creep me out too and the whole site is corny as Hell in general.

This is a retro Sonic forum though. I thought it was safe to assume most everyone here is a closet furfag, not unlike /tg/.

    So about the music...

  16. Hi, I'm the arranger of the big band performance of Casino Night
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GS2FSyxBX3s

that I posted a week or two ago and It was mentioned that it would fit well with the optional remixes and requested that it was played as the original composition. I contacted the band that played it and they are interested in doing a new recording but need more elaboration on what needs to be done. So far I can tell that I will take out the solo section so it is the original composition, they are getting a bass player so they can play the intro to the bridge to the loop, but does there need to be any change in instrumentation? Also there is a problem with the drummer. They do not have one and may have to use a drum machine again, but I may be able to contract a drummer I know to play out the part, to send to the band to play with. But if that can't happen, they will be stuck with the drum machine.
