What is your favorite Sonic Adventure quote

Easily the cheering of the bystanders right before the perfect chaos battle. Not only do they sound awkward and forced, I sure as hell never saw them anywhere around at the time.

My favorite line has to be from Dr. Robotnik, right before he goes up into the Egg Carrier. "Adieu then! Until we meet again my friends, hahahah!" Deem Bristow managed to make him seem somewhat more real as he laughs while saying the rest of the line.

The Japanese dub of Tails screaming also made me laugh. I really don't know why some people say "I don't know what he's saying, but I know exactly what emotions he's experiencing" when they watch the Japanese dubs. The Japanese use an alphabet based on vowels, not vowels and consonants. The voice acting is either wooden or over the top because if they garble a word or don't hold a vowel long enough, it can change the meaning of a whole sentence. Whereas in English, with your voice inflection, you can say one word in like a dozen different ways, sometimes saying the wrong vowel for it, and people can still understand you for the most part. More room for error, interpretation, and fun.

 

When Amy is kidnapped he's inside the station as well. He says something all freaked out like the world is going to end but he just stands there waiting for the train that he needs to catch. I always found that hillarious.

Knuckles has one as well, when he gets out of Casinopolis and finds Sonic and Tails sprawled on the street and goes "what are these guys doing here" or something close to that. I always found it pretty sweet that you could find the other characters within other's stories like that.

That one too.

Sonic Adventure is full of them. It was a fun game that one.

I remember when I was an immature brat I'd usually take the a out and put an u instead on faker. Then I'd complete their speech everytime they said it. Good times.

When you beat Final Chaos, and Tikal states that "life goes on" or something to that effect... after the city was completely wiped out!

 

In SA2, anything Rouge says. The translation team must've been a small part of the budget, despite the game being made in America. Her "big gravity drop" sample in Heroes also sounds suspiciously like Howard Dean's infamous scream.

Oh, and the whole "robot" thing in Heroes. It's a result of the Japanese term referring to any artificial life form, including both clones and robots (which is why Shadow and Emerl get compared in Battle). Heroes also features - in addition to fun gems such as "Look at all those Eggman's robots!" from a super-genius, a 6-year-old rabbit who knows the word "detonate", and characters openly questioning why the self-destruct button caused the ship to self-destruct - the cutscene following the Vs. Team Sonic battle as Team Rose. Though the script is nothing out of this game's ordinary, Amy's delivery makes it clear the VA didn't know the context.

I really love how hammy Team Chaotix and Omega are, though. I can't really explain Chaotix, but Omega's constant "ANNIHILATE" shouts and the like are so over-the-top that you can't take him seriously. Worthless consumer models, indeed.

This deserves special mention as he says it pretty late into walking over (not running, not panicking, just strollin'), and Amy even waves him good-bye like it's no big deal. Nope, not an evil genius over here who's going to destroy us all or anything...

As for my own SA1 quotes, I'd say Tails' "Woah, hey it transformed! Did you see that?" gets my vote since Sonic actually reacts to the absurdity of his statement.

 

"Tails: Soooonic!

Sonic: Hey there, Tails! Did you find the Tornado 2?

Tails: Nevermind that! Angel Island's fallen again!

Sonic: What? No way! Who blew it this time?"

Always makes me smirk.

 

I think the funniest lines come from from the Japanese voice overs, Especially Sonic's "engrish"
