This is actually a lot better looking when next to Sonic now with all the fixes and what not. Although is it just me or is his hand wayyyy to small compared to Sonic.
That one is good and all, but get rid of the dithering on his tail. That sprite uses only 12 colors, you can afford a couple more. edit: actually wait, it uses more than 12 colors, yet some of them didn't appear in the palette boxes below. There is someone doing things wrong here. One of the shades of red used for his shoes doesn't appear in the palette boxes, just like one of the shades of gray used in his tail. I tried to fix it, also removing the dithering: The colors I added are the two ones right above the old palette; the gray that was forgotten is the one even above them; I replaced the extra shade of red used in the shoes with the one I added when I removed the dithering. I think this turned out pretty well.
The eyes are gigantic on that one. It looks like he's been startled out of mind. It's like a "Sonic! Are...are you...naked?" type of reaction.

I think the palette problems come from the tails themselves. Somewhere along the lines there must have been a mix up. I tried combining the dark red with the darkest orange (because they were practically the same colour), then afterwards, thinking there was another colour available, made that even darker red. But I must have missed the other similar dark orange on the tails. But then again the tails should probably be made and animated separately anyway.

Jesus Christ, still working on it. Don't say shit about the hands. I know about the hands. Shut the fuck up about hands.
Holy shit, that's a lot of frames. o_O That walking pose in general is... well, pretty awkward. The range of leg movement is way too condensed, and the way Sonic's hands are moving are unrealistic and weird to see in motion. I won't talk about the head portion since you're still working on it, but you might want to consider something in terms of Sonic 2 or 3 when it comes to a reference for arm and leg range and movement. Nice and smooth, though.

I agree the arms need work, but I'd go as far as to say the legs need more work. Sonic's legs were never that short and stubby in any of the official artwork or older sprite style (with the exception of Sonic 1, I guess, but even that didn't look this weird), and for his legs to be so simply and awkwardly positioned is an odd and troubling precedent to set. This is, of course, assuming that this is the same "walking" animation that is present in games such as Sonic 1, 2, and 3; if this is the kind of early walking animation like in Sonic Advance 3, then what you have is totally appropriate in such a context. I do think a pre-swirl run should have Sonic making much larger strides, though.

Are you going to trim down on them or keep it as it is? One minor quip, the back quil looks more plastic then the style fitted. :S I can jump back on this project in about 2-3 weeks actually, work is almost done with my other duties at the moment.
