Hardest special stages in a 2d sonic game

I can say I'm moderately good at Sonic CD's special zones. Right now I just entered Tidal Tempest act 1, and I have 3 time stones (should be 4, but I fucked up on the 2nd stage). The hard bit about SCD is going to the past and destroying that machine thingy (I looked everywhere for it once >>; ). I'll probably just stick to getting the time stones this time.

 

I love it. It adds a ton of replay value, and gives you valid incentive to explore the wonderfuly designed Zones.

 

I've beaten Sonic 2's special stages with Tails plenty of times. They aren't that hard.

I voted for Sonic CD, but I also think that Knuckles Chaotix special stages were hard too.

I'd say Chaotix, mainly because I couldn't be arsed with the game.

 

I voted for Sonic 1. DAMN YOU EXIT SPHERES! In all the other ones, you can always make up for a mistake (hitting a bomb, missing a UFO, etc.) but in these, you get NO second chances at all.

The easiest way to do the S2 special stages is to play through the game with a friend. It makes the bosses and special stages a lot easier.

 

I love hitting the fans and taking out like three at a time. :D

I'm of the "Sonic 2 special stages are piss easy" group.

None of them are really HARD, persay, but if I had to choose one that annoyed me the most, it'd be Sonic 2's.

 

Which Special Stages do I find hardest? Simple, Sonic CD, no contest. As Tweaker said, they're not necessarily "hard", they're just a bit annoying. There are times when the U.F.O.'s are hard to get a direct hit on, and then they just keep on dodging your attack (around the last ones, in particular).

 

It's tough to say. I think a lot of them are hard but the main one that's hard for me is chaotix.
