Well, some of us will probably prefer downloading the GMV version of that video, which is here:
    http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/movies.cgi?id=447

Well, yes, it's amazing but keep in mind that this is a "tool-assisted" movie.

(I may encode a CamCodec lossless version of this soon, for those who want a better image quality and doesn't have "Gens Movie Test")

Edit: I must admit that the Labyrinth, Star Light and Scrap Brain parts are the most amazing, by far! Especially shortcuts of death.

    Ah, much better.

    Well, I know it's tool-assisted, but it's amazing nevertheless. :D

Is there another way to view this? Google Video never finishes loading. I can only see up to the beginning of LZ3.

I get that sometimes too. Try playing with the timeline slider around where the movie freezes up.

You need a special version of Gens to watch GMV's, right?

What version of Gens is it? Or, what program can view avi.torrent files?

.torrent files are BitTorrent files so you can download the AVI with a BitTorrent client.

Running the game at 6% speed and rerecording the movie with save states to fix mistakes.

I'm surpised how few people here know about these. There's more Sonic ones...

    http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/movies.cgi?id=468
Sonic Advance 2. This shows what rerecording can do! It's the fastest 2D game you've ever seen. You can download an AVI with the Archive.org link directly (no trackers or special emus needed), or the BT or GMV file. Watch this first.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Amazing shield usage. Download via BT or GMV, no direct AVI file up.

And, of course, Sonic 2. Download via BT, GMV, or direct-link AVI on Archive.org.

Any tips on playing H264 in Linux? The video from the Sonic Advance 2 avi is scrambled, I assuming due to a codec problem.

The Sonic Advance 2 run blows me away.

I actually helped the runner, nitsuja, out a bit in the earlier stages of his run, though I don't think he really needed me, as he's proven his route planning skills for the later stages in his run without my assistance.

I was curious to see how much you could abuse the airdash in sonic advance 2 to see how fast sonic could really go, so I suggested to him (or someone over there at least) that they do a run on sonic advance 2. I was expecting it to be fast, but not that fast! I surprised myself!

As for those other runs, The S3&K run is done by Gavin Ward. insane 2D sonic time attacker! Love that video, though I haven't seen the latest version

The Sonic 2 run is also mighty impressive, but I haven't any info on the runner. There's a legit sonic 2 run at SDA, but an even faster run exists on the Sonic Olympics website (if it's even still up). It was recorded using emulator (without tool assistance) but since emulation is not allowed at SDA it was not put up.

I guess I'll also have to check out the Sonic 1 run because from what I'm hearing it's quite a treat

Sonic just became a lot more bad-ass.

I guess I should have mentioned that I'm using VLC.

Cool, new version, Let's see if I can install and if it fixes the problem.

Or try Mplayer. That's what I use. Everything I've tried plays, even MKV files.
