Sonic X Shadow Generations announced, releases Autumn 2024

Given how many city levels are in Sonic Generations, I hope the shadow campaign features some level tropes not featured in OG Generations.

Here are some possibilities:
- Forest/Jungle: White Jungle (SA2), Frog Forest (Heroes), Iron Jungle (05), Tropical Jungle (06)
- Mountain: Sky Rail (SA2), Rail Highway (Heroes), Glyphic Canyon (05), Radical Train (06)
- Casino: Casino Park (Heroes), Circus Park (05)
- Haunted: Hang Castle (Heroes), Cryptic Castle (05)
- Cyber: Digital Circuit (05)
- Desert: Dusty Desert (06)
- Ice: White Acropolis (06)

 

I loved how Cyberspace was designed and played so I'm happy with this. If they replaced the controls with that of the Open Zones, even better. I really think the homing attack should transfer momentum more and free up your air controls after like how it worked pre-06 though.

Frontiers was my only experience with Flynn's writing and I didn't really enjoy it, so hopefully he can win me over with this if he's the one writing the story. However, most people whose opinions I tend to share regarding Sonic stories tend to dislike his work, so I'm not hopeful.

Regarding levels, I'm hoping for at least 5 or 6, though more would obviously be appreciated. 3 would be far too short, especially since it won't have a classic Sonic version tied to it.

Overall, super hyped. I was just wishing for Gens on Switch the other day, so at the very least, we get that.

Also, implying it's racist to point out that certain mistakes are frequently committed by those who grew up speaking the same language is ridiculous. Almost everyone here in Denmark commonly says activities are "funny" when they mean "fun," or say they "tried something" when they mean they experienced it. It's not racist to point that out.

That said, I'm not completely sold on the "mirror" theory. It makes sense considering how both are rendered in katakana and Shadow being a "reflection," but IDK. Miller is too weird.

 

if they're going to choose any level from Heroes I hope they choose Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion (which is what I always wanted instead of Seaside Hill in Gens lol). I feel like that whole level motif works better with the general edgy vibe Shadow has. Would be so funny to go from Space Colony Ark and Westopolis to the bright and colourful Bingo Highway or something

 

You fuckboys really can't read, huh? The issue is that the assumption was immediately made that "lol they got it wrong". It certainly couldn't be intentional, or be a reference to something else entirely. Christ.

 

So like, when does this take place? It can't take place during Gens's events at all. Shadow is frozen, and the rest of the time he's sitting in the hub ready to challenge Sonic. Does it take place during Frontiers? That'd be really weird.

We can read. We read that you called someone racist and gross for an assumption that is just as valid as assuming they named it Miller on purpose. Do you find racism, or do you look for it?

 

It's happening during the time Sega woke up and realized they need kids to know who Shadow is for the movie.

 

I don't believe the rivals were actually frozen in Gens original story? That was just Sonic's friends at his party that were frozen, and they weren't present. It's not without possibility that they're going through their own sort of Generations event of their own. Silver even mentions that he believed Sonic to be an evil version of him looking to steal the Chaos Emeralds which wouldn't make sense if he was in stasis.

 

Feel the need to jump in here. That is not what Roserio said. They said the action of assuming that came across as potentially racist. There was no concrete "accusation".

I don't believe it's wrong to bring attention to potential racism or racially-charged actions, but I also think it's a bit of a jump to call it that considering this is a real pattern and it is something that actually happens. And they didn't have "no evidence", it was obviously just a guess and they also elaborate further down the thread with more conclusive evidence that this may be the case to some extent:

I think all this talk about Shadow is bringing out the inner edgelord that exists within us all. That's how powerful he is.

I always thought that the Shadow you fight in Generations was directly from Adventure 2's timeline which is why he was ready to throw hands for no reason

Makes sense. We end up fighting the DER in what I assume is Sonic 2. Silver is also ready to fight and Metal is in the same spot as he was during the CD fight.

 

Something I'd like to see in the Generations remaster is a bit more emphasis to the story; adding additional dialogue sequences after each level to reflect the stage they just went through. That was a common critique of Generations, and would be nice to be rectified in this rerelease.

 

No wonder his character became very bad in future games considering he came back to the present with everyone else

I think it is possible and even likely Shadow Generations won't be so uniform as one level per game. Would be funny I'd it was mostly urban levels ala Radical Highway, Westopolis.
