Bowser's Fury gameplay engine is quite literally the Odyssey engine. A lot of the changes brought in that port such as player's having a faster top speed and being able to stomp on pipes to quickly go down them are a direct result of Odyssey. But this is becoming a different topic.

As for the whole Miller situation. It's certainly... interesting to assume that it's a case of mixing Ls and Rs and katakana spellings, at least in the age where a half decent translator is only a keystroke away. I do concede that my theory of the name being a reference to Josh Miller is a bit weak, though. Perhaps we'll never be 100% sure.

Honestly the only improvement needed for Sonic Generations is fixing the god-awful final boss. I was also always disappointed they didn't end the game with a death egg / egg carrier / ark / etc. mash-up level. Not gonna happen though.

Sonic Generations: The Final Horizon. (But better designed.) Or at least get permission to replace the generic Time Eater music with Sonic Youth.

Sonic X Shadow Generations seems to be considered a separate product altogether, so they're probably not giving you Sonic X Shadow Generations for free after you've probably only paid $1 for the original Sonic Generations, regardless of whether or not it's a new port of Generations with a separately launched Shadow Generations. Delisting in this case just means you can't buy it anymore, but there is a softer version of this where you CAN buy it but you need to be directly linked (Skyrim does this because it had a similar scenario) but my preferred way would be just make it non-purchasable outside of the Sonic Generations Collection, like how the Casino Night DLC currently acts.

I do apologize if my reasoning came off as really weird, lol. It's just a common thing I noticed when things are run through a translator that sometimes it's 50/50 on using Rs or Ls. I mean ultimately, I don't think it matters that much if it's translated correctly since it's just the internal name. It's there for the sake of obfuscation and to prevent leaks. No one else is gonna call it that besides the people working on the game.

I'm also sorry if it came off as me saying you're wrong. I originally thought it was referencing Josh Miller too until my friend looked into it and I was like OH PROJECT MIRROR, lol. I was more sharing because I thought it was interesting than trying to say that is the definitive answer. Learning about different languages is very engaging to me and I like researching that kind of stuff.

Edit: If I have to be honest too, your "it's certainly... interesting to assume" comment kinda bothers me because it comes off as backhanded. I'm more than happy to be wrong and get informed properly, but how that was shared rubbed me the wrong way.

I think it's pretty reasonable for Sonic Team to use their modern engine for this. It's self explanatory that using 13 year old, inefficient tools that the majority of your developers don't even know how to use for a new product is a really bad idea, even if it's an expansion pack added onto a remaster. As noted by @Iso Kilo, Bowser's Fury did the exact same thing, except it also ported the base game over to the Odyssey engine.

The biggest difference here is that unlike 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Shadow Generations doesn't seem to have ported over the movement code for Generations, instead relying on Frontiers as a base, even if there's no doubt that it's been modified to fit the boost formula and Shadow more. This could end up as a good or bad thing, but it really depends on how much they modify the moveset and controls to be like Generations. We'll have to wait and see.

If you'd prefer a more direct approach: assuming it's called Project Miller because the person who named it can't spell "Mirror" without any evidence is kind of gross. Potentially racist, even. Maybe it's intentional wordplay, or maybe it is named after Josh Miller, or maybe it's named after Steve Miller or Glenn Miller or something since Sega also had a Project Elvis. Who knows?

Well thanks for calling me racist then dude lol. Not continuing this conversation after that insane accusation. Really... Interesting to jump that conclusion.

For evidence, I provided it. I ran it through multiple translators. If you were to translate it through Katakana, it does geninuely go through as the spelling as Mirror. You can confirm this yourself. It's likely wordplay in that case. I wasn't sure at the time hence why I provided that original reasoning.

The Japanese have historically had trouble differentiating 'l's and 'r's. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that and considering the possibility of it happening here. To condemn it as a "gross" and racist assumption is beyond ignorant.

Thinking about it a bit more, Shadow Generations is a great idea. A way to expand upon Generations in a way which is easier to do for the developers than going back to Gens code. A way to celebrate parts of Sonic's past which aren't as overexposed as Green Hill, Chemical Plant, Sky Sanctuary.

A lot of this depends on how Shadow Generations controls. Surely they will imitate Generations rather than Frontiers to at least some extent. I know this is SEGA and ST but still...I delusionally have hope.

It is essentially a mini spiritual sequel to Generations. But without Classic Sonic. Great idea. At least as an idea. They could mess it up. But I'm into it.

Okay lol, I appreciate people backing me up but I think we should just move on.

I do wonder about the length of the Shadow campaign since rumors implied that it'll be larger than expected. I'm personally thinking it'll still be "can be beaten in a day" length.

I'd be fine with that length. Generations can be beaten in a few hours. I hope it can have the very high quality of Gemerations which is unlikely but possible. Quality over quantity is the defining characteristic of Generations.

If it's using Frontiers as base, I'm hoping it's the Open Zone controls as a base rather than Cyberspace. If they can't figure out how to fine tune the controls, then give me back my sliders.

    I'll do it myself. [IMG]

Someone here suggested there could be 6 acts and 2 bosses, as if there were 2 "eras" for Shadow. Not in the sense of what an era is, but as its length in original Generations. If this is to be true, I think this would be very good.

But I still think it would be shorter in half.
    - 1 level for SA2
    - 1 "rival" which is Biolizard
    - 1 level for Heroes
    - 1 level for Shadow
    - 1 boss which is Black Doom

If we look at this exactly as a Shadow Generations deal there unfortunately isn't much to pull from. We already know we have the ARK and Westopolis, so they really only have like Heroes, 06, assuming they're strictly keeping this within the original 2011 time eras, then they could also use Forces... But do you really want to be reminded of Episode Shadow? lol. That said, my picks for Heroes and 06 would probably have to be Hang Castle and either White Acropolis or Dusty Desert.

This at least has to have more levels than Shadow had in SA2. It just gotta!

    Regarding the "Miller Time" codename.

We sure it's just not as simple as the old beer adverts for Miller beer used to be about coming together to party and...

Sonic Gens starts with Sonic and his friends coming together to party?

And Classic Sonic is a foul mouthed drunk so there's also that.
