Just thought I'd let you know, someone's done a speed-run of Sonic 2. Sure, speed challenges on that game are nothing new, but this is the first time someone's actually videotaped their run and sent it to this site. In fact, this is the ONLY 16-bit Sonic game on the site - I'm surprised nobody has sent one in before :(

I don't like how you have to download all the levels individually though, there should be one big file with all the videos (or the entire run in one video file).

Note: This is NOT me playing the game, I just found it on the site :P

The problem with a 'speed run' being split up into different levels, is that whoever made the videos could have spent time perfecting each level rather than just taking the entire game in one go, making his time seam shorter than in fact it would have been.

Feh, that'd be easy, especially if you user Gens and Fraps. Then just use some editing software and boom! on large movie, which, properly cut, wouldn't have more then a couple frames difference at any one point, and sense level changes are silent...

That's all pretty and nice, but if you were careless you would magically change score and lives on level load...

One way to easily overcome this little tidbit would be to save a savestate on level load, and reloading it until you cleared the level as good as you could.

  6. If you don't get it this might clear it up...

    Bad Video quality here!

Yeah. I recorded (onto VHS) a run of Blast Corps' Moon stage that shames the time posted there (my current 'Best Stay', beats it by about 20 seconds; actual time will come when I play it again), but I dunno if they'll want just a single stage run. I might add other things on there if I can figure out what I'd want. Maybe a single-session Tetris Attack run on the Hardest level (though I'd use a non-standard controller, but with turbo settings off). I can off most opponents in under a minute, and some sub-30 seconds.

Anyway, rambling now, so I better cut it here.

Hmm, wonder if this was in reaction to Jackson doing the music for Sonic 3? :P
