  1. Yeap. I see it now. This is a damn shame to anyone else who legitimately tried.

And heres the ultimate proof. Both videos played side by side:

    Music comments: Let's see...

    Casino Night Classic: Boring, forgettable.
Emerald Coast Classic: Lazily reused old music.
Mushroom Hill Classic: Kinda okay but more or less the same with one or more synths changed.
Radical Highway Classic: Finally, a decent mix! Took them long enough! Not long enough though.
Tropical Resort Classic: Old music reused again. Lazy.
Water Palace Classic: Reused music, argh!
Casino Night Modern: This one kinda sticks out. It's good, but I get the feeling it's only that way due to the same song appearing in the HD DLC. Nice and jazzy though.
Emerald Coat Modern: Another reused old song! Bah!
Mushroom Hill Modern: All right, it's just Classic with a guitar track added. That's just silly.
Radical Highway Modern: Uhhh... yeah... you can't remix half the tracks, yet you are compelled to remix this one into some extreme electronic thing? It's... a bit too far gone, which is surreal given the other songs and how they're not really remixed. So... not good, but in a weird, "What happened to this song? It sounds like something else entirely unrelated!" way.
Tropical Resort Modern: Okay, this is about the only other good "Modern" Remix. Why couldn't the others be like this? It's at least somewhat different.
Water Palace Modern: The addition of seagulls and redoing random parts of it a good remake does not make.

Overall: Pretty bad showing. Wonder if the boss music fares any better/if Doomsday shows up ever again, or whether the sound effects-polluted demo is all we'll ever have of that one.

Total cheat. he says he was trying to mimic the gameplay 1stkirby did, VizardJeffhog basically proved hes just a cheat.

I hope SEGA catches wind of this.

These are actually remixes. They both have heavier guitar and new percussion.

It's funny, because the guy says he was trying to mimic Kirby's gameplay exactly. And he manages it to the point of both having the same "time-ahead" at every single checkpoint. So not only did he replicate Kirby's fastest run, he replicated Kirby's second-fastest run without ever seeing it. Bravo, man. You have so much skill.

Hm. Well I guess I missed that. Still, seems fairly forgettable. But the boss tunes haven't been released yet (except the one we've all heard before, which is decent)

    ECC: That's a remix, dude. o.o;
ECM: You're right that time; the remix came from the London 2012 Olympics :specialed:
    Doomsday: You like that midi feed? o.o;

I agree mostly with everything else you said, though. The amount of "wtf" isn't just in this music either! I wouldn't be suprised—in fact I'd understand—if people leave Sonic AGAIN after Generations HD JUST brought them back (if it did). SEGA fucked up again. What else is new? As good as Generations HD was, SEGA/Sonic Team desperately needs new management wherever it's fucking up right now, and to let go of DIMPS. It's doing them WAY more harm than good!

Also, if they were re-using music so much, why didn't they pick THIS for Radical Highway instead of that scratch techno wtf-is-this we got?

The sad thing is we might actually have gotten quality remixes if Generations 3DS used that instead of what we got, since time would be spent on either Back 2 Back Classic or Tropical Resort Classic. I think, at least. :/

    EDIT: FUCKING FUCK EVERYTHING. This post would have been made earlier if this iTrash didn't crash 3 fucking times. >_____>;

Now that I got my child rage out, *sigh* I just hope Sonic's future is better than this :(

Well, I disliked Snappleman's remix of the Doomsday, but thanks to the popularity of his version, no one else with any real music chops has endeavored to remix it, so I'll take a midi cover over nothing.

Of course I was hoping it'd be properly remixed in 3DS, but at this rate it's liable to either be that placeholder or nothing.

Well the 3DS version looks like shit, glad I'm not missing out on anything.

Still, I do like the level roster. Shame it wasn't utilized very well though. :(

  10. Well there's still hope for a port of the console version to Vita, right? :v:

    ...right?

The hypermikey in that forum seems to have "removed" instead of his eBay link making me think that he was saying that the item was taken down. Later on when people quote him the link is still there and the item is up... either that's him lying or an admin tried to remove the reference from the page and didn't manage every ocurrence.

Everyone loves getting on the Dimps hate bandwagon. Especially when a lot of people here haven't even played the game on 3DS yet.

I got the game today, breaking AUS streetdate thanks to EB. I've played through all the levels and have first place on time attack for the first 3 classic levels. The game is great for 3DS, and here's why:

    - Classic sonic controls really well. The boost gives the game with the classic levels a new feeling, it definitely doesn't subtract from the game. (This is coming from a nostalgia king)
    - Mushroom hill is cool - has all the gimmicks, the seasaw, the curling vine, the twisted branch that hits the ground, the mushroom with weight, bouncing on all mushrooms.
    - There are secret routes. Top / Middle / Bottom most of the time. Emerald coast isn't nearly as bad as everyone is saying, there is little water areas, loops, dolphins, gusts of air, the whale, those bomb monkey things, little cave areas, an area where you run along the wall as classic sonic and depending on your speed get send to a different track. There's more variation then just the wooden path for sure.
    - Casino night has more variety in modern. It also has the secret walls like in Sonic 2.
    - The Time Eater boss is easily better then the big brother generations.
There's a part where he throws clocks at you, in 3D it is very impressive. Hell the whole boss is impressive in 3D
    - Thankfully the special stages are not a pain in the ass and are more fun then a chore :D
    - Not all missions are unlocked with walking coins. Some are unlocked during gameplay, some are unlocked by playing the time trial
    - There's a neat 3D model section to unlock and view in 3D. cooler then big Generations because, well, 3D.
EDIT: I forgot, the big arm boss is pretty epic too.

-They obviously put a lot of effort into this game. Speedrunning it you can tell that there are lots of paths, tricks, and enemies that line up just perfectly. The physics feel close to the larger game.

-It is a shame that there isn't any 3D forward scenes, but really this just gives more platforming sidescrolling areas which a lot of classic people like anyway?

Sometimes I feel the fans don't know what they want. We are divided into modern / classic more then we think - If this game is seen as bad because it has level layouts like the old games, but we want HD versions of the old levels, isn't this it? It felt good going through MHZ, GHZ and casino night in 2.5D. I was close to cancelling my copy after everyone raged on here, but I'm very happy I didn't.

So I see this issue has reached Retro. I've already contacted RubyEcplise and I/we should receive a response today. (And three admins on the Sega Forums have responded!) It's really, really sad that he already got the prize... I only wish I saw the video sooner so the real winner could have been picked in the Uk. :/

Also? I was two steps ahead of him, he tried to set his video to "Private". I downloaded the video before he took it down!

EDIT: Also to somewhat stay on topic: I have decided not to pick up the 3DS version yet, I'll probably see if there is a sale for it. $40 isn't really worth it.

Classic Casino Night sounds okay, but the fact they kept the original DAC in at the very beginning makes it sound so sloppy.

Hmm, well I guess that explains why Inuyasha's side-by-side comparison video has so many troll comments in it - seems to be getting spread around a fair bit.

I like how to them, cheating and stealing is A-OK as long as it makes a mockery of the Sonic fandom.

So the real winner has been picked in the UK: Greg.

Also, hahahaha, oh man at those comments. This is truly the internet as you imagined it.

EDIT: Figured out why: The video was posted in /v/.

Well, firstly, I began to hate Dimps long before this game came out. In fact, it was after playing Sonic Rush Adventure and feeling like I'd just been played and my money was stolen from me.

Of course I am an ancient Classic fan, though lapsed (ever since Sonic 3D Blast I had lost all hope for there being a 'quality' continuation) but the 3DS version simply does not appeal to me.

At least, I wanted 3D versions of the old stages which had different stage layouts and such. And the homing attack-based sections—those were just laziness. Now, I'm sure you like it, and more power to you for liking it; but the HD version appealed much more to ancient people like me who lost interest in Sonic Rush and never cared for Dimps much after that.

So it's just disappointing from my perspective that they couldn't remix all the songs and that, even if the gameplay is great for Emerald Coast modern, that they missed out on putting any real set pieces or interesting art direction in that stage.

I love the 360 PC PS3 version more then the 3ds version. But both are good.
