So the news of this month are that Aaron Webber is not PR and social media anymore as he moved to a new position within Sega.

Good for him, always good to see someone grow in a company.

Congrats Aaron, a well deserved promotion after helping save the Sonic brand those years ago.

    Here's the statement.

I wonder where he got promoted to. I've always seen him in the PR space, so it'll be interesting to see what else he can offer, or if this is an extension of his past work. He definitely saved the brand from complete obscurity in the mid-10s. While the memes are almost all Sonic is known for now, I'm grateful for what he did to keep the young people interested in the blue bastard.

Idk if it's reading too much into it, but interesting Aaron referred to them as "SEGA and Sonic Studio." Is that what Sonic Team's going by post yet another restructure?

yo what, he pitched Sonic Mania and Sonic Mania Adventures?? wooooow!

I'm curious as to what his new position is and wish him the best of luck. I wonder if maybe he'll be running PR for the rest of Sega now?

Wouldn't it be lovely if Aaron was like, head of Sonic after Iizuka or something? Man deserves it at least, he did a lot to help Sonic survive and thrive (well for a bit, then Forces happened and then a whole lotta nothing).

Yup. Maximum congrats to the dude! It would be really interesting if he moves to a position where he gets a bit more say in how the future of the games shape up.
Most importantly, I hope he enjoys the break from being the pillar holding the Social Media side of things up. I can imagine there was a lot of pressure there!

By the way, this is the song that Aaron put in the message. Not Sonic or Sega related, but a nice song.

"Sonic Studio"... is that a mistake or does the tinfoil hat I'm wearing right now tell me that Sonic Team changed its name?

Also my best wishes to Aaron, he really did renew excitement for the Sonic brand through the Twitter account

I sure hope Aaron got a position capable of helping shape Sonic back into glory.

It's been too much hit-or-miss for quite a while now. It's gotta be all hits again.

I got a vibe of a movie franchise on that "Sonic Studio".

According to the stream Sonic Studio is a rebranding of Sonic Pillar, which is the name of the LA office. I think Lapper may need to rename his project. :specialed:

Aaron is on the stream describing the new position. Basically sounds like a General Brand Manager for Sega. He says he'll go into more detail on his personal account in the coming weeks.

If anyone can lead the charge of reviving the non-Sonic brands internally, I'd put my faith in Aaron.

Can't believe we've finally got someone in a position to pitch the Dreamcast 2 :specialed:

Edit: In all seriousness, best of luck to Aaron. He really did a lot for the franchise and I won't hold him personally responsible if a certain console does not receive its overdue sequel.

Best of luck to Aaron.. I first saw him on YouTube promoting Sonic 4 back in 2010 when he first showed off the new Casino Street Act 2.. was a joy to watch and I hope he succeeds in his new position :)

What I would hope is the reason for this if I had any faith in SEGA left: SEGA is planning on reviving Sonic's reputation with high-budget Sonic games led by a new team and there won't be a need for the ironic memelord twitter account

What is actually happening: Sega has decided to get rid of Aaron because they truly don't give a shit about Sonic anymore even ironically

Crash 4 just leaked. While there is nothing related, it makes me more curious to see what Sega is going to annouce on the 23rd (maybe nothing at all).

Oh, wow, they've just retconned Wrath of Cortex out of existence. Neat!

Are you just completely ignoring the facts that:

    1. He's not been the only person manning the social media accounts for a long time, and...

    2. He's done a lot more for the franchise than posting memes?

Also the guy is still within SEGA. He's been promoted and will be working on more than just the Sonic brand.

Just pointing out, yet again, that the whole 2020 initiative is a Japanese campaign and is totally unrelated to this news about Aaron Webber (that came out on the 18th, not the 20th...).
