Not where I want to be.
Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
I can't tell if you know those were jokes or not.

Most definitely jokes given the guy's name. There's also no way they actually had Sonic say "shut the fuck up" at one point in the movie.

I wouldn't take a "mild language" warning to mean anything. I think the MPAA can be too harsh on kids movies. The friggin' Spongebob Movie got a PG for God's sake (the only iffy thing was seeing Patrick's underwear, and if you think that's inappropriate for young children then I would point out that kindergarten-age kids already know all kinds of poop- and butt-related jokes. Hell, when I was visiting my family over the holidays, my 5- and 3-year-old nieces mooned me, and they're otherwise well-behaved).

You forgot about the part where SpongeBob and Patrick get absolutely wasted and ruin a children's birthday party restaurant.

Oh yeah. That's what happens when you haven't seen a movie in 10 years. Although I did google the MPAA rating just now and it just lists "mild crude humor". Is drunkenness "crude" per se?

Sudden 5am realisation that the Sonic Movie remembered Green Hill being on South Island, when an actual Sonic Team game (Forces) didn't.

    Movie just keeps winning.
Nakamura continues to get the Shun.

Alright that's my post - back to bed, it's the weekend.

You can actually start booking tickets for the movie now in the UK with Vue.

Slice of life visual novel, coming soon...?
I don't know if you're joking or not but you don't have to force yourself to see the movie just because you're a Sonic fan.

Sonic is incredibly important to me but I'm still not going anywhere near that junk. I have better way to spend my time and money.

    So much this.

I think the film looks like absolute horse shit and you'd have to pay me to watch it, but I'm not going to knock anyone who wants to watch it genuinely. Whether you think it looks good, you're going with someone else who wants to see it or you're just morbidly curious, it really doesn't matter. But feeling "obligated as a fan" is a terrible reason to support anything.

Ditto. I just want to see a horrible, mindless kids action film :colbert:

I feel like it was kind of obvious I was just joking. I am still going to try to see it though because I just want to see how horrendous it is.

Does everyone really think it'll be that bad? I don't think it'll be good but the post-redesign trailers felt more fun and endearing than atrociously awful. Not too keen on Jim Carry's antics though. I haven't bought tickets but I'm thinking about it. Either way I'm gonna see it right away, because the movie is the first thing in the franchise I've been genuinely excited for in quite a while. I wish we could get something better than a live-action/CGI chipmunks version, but I'll take what I can get when Sonic Team isn't giving me anything else to look forward to. I'm just jazzed to see Sonic put a smile on my face again.

  20. I dont think it'll be too bad. Not at all actually. I found the redesign much more expressive and charming. Never expected a 1:1 sonic experience, seriously dont know why anyone would in this case. But sonic does seem like his basic self and that's good enough for a harmless flick. Theres no long term commitment here for me, I'd be much more concerned about the direction of the games in that sense.

I look forward to it and hope that it's a solid movie all around.
